An interesting thing I noticed about this art, and a few other Pound pieces from the set, is that they are the same size as the paintings for the normal sets, while others done by Pound for the same Giant series set are larger. This got me thinking that maybe the art was originally done for OS2 or OS3, and switched over to the 2nd Giant series later. This would also be the time that Tom Bunk started doing front artwork for GPK, and John Pound said that he didn't realize any other artists were working on GPK until the 3rd series was printed, so it would make sense that there was extra artwork. Today, I looked on the back of the Hooked on GPK artwork, and this is what I found... And who did the art for the printed card #95??

Wow super cool piece Mark! I was actually contemplating buying that piece.
Very interesting about it possibly being intended for os2 or os3.

Awesome new final mark! I think your right. I know topps wanted to add another artist in case pound left or became Ill.
There are a few other giant cards that were 5x7 while the others are a lot larger.

Sweet pickup Mark! I love the CPK likeness of the character. I believe #95 Grim Jim is a Bunk piece.

The giant artwork that I picked up is actually a little bit smaller than normal 5X7 art. 4X6 maybe...I didn't measure it. Is that Hooked art in a 5X7 sleeve? My art also has OUT written on the back with some other wrting that I can't remember. I'll post it up when I get home.

Yup, it's about 4.5 x 6.5 inches. I remember Brett Sweat being smaller than all of the other art I've owned too, which is interesting.

The os1-2 art also has the white border that makes the completed cut down 5x7 right? The giant cards don't have that white border.

All of the OS1 and OS2 art I've seen has a about a 1/4" white border around the art. If you cut it down it'd be 4.5 X 6.5.

Wow, Ping!! Awesome to see finals from the giant stickers! Always loved that GPK too. I think you're right it was originally for one of the original normal series. Would have made a great addition to any of OS1-OS9 sets. Great pick up!

So I emailed John Pound, and he confirmed my theory about some of the giant postcard art. His records showed the pieces listed below and what series they were intended for.
"Have a Nice Day" os1 "Take a GPK to Lunch" os1 "Hooked on GPKs" os2 "Why Fight It? Collect GPKs" os3
Pretty cool!

Also the backgrounds line up with the pieces in the corresponding base series. You should send this info to AJ to put up as a fun fact on his site.

The have a nice day is a really cool one and so is the take a gpk to lunch. Its odd the pieces you and cory got have 95 and #96 on the backs.
From the interview pound did previously he said he painted 44 pieces for series #1
If those 2 were intended for series 1 that would make 43. Still leaves 1 unclaimed
The have a nice day to me looks more like a an os1. the face matches up with pounds earlier works. It has a close resemblance to itchy Ritchie or drippy Dan.
What I also noticed was there were only 5 smaller size painting done by pound. The rest were larger or by bunk
Also series 3 had 11 bunk paintings so shouldnt that mean pound should have others intended for series 3?

That's a good point Geoff, as Mark pointed out Pound didn't even know Bunk was painting GPKs until after the 3rd series was released. That could mean he did close to the same amount of characters as series 1 & 2.
I wonder if he still has the pencil art and color roughs for the jumbo card characters?

He listed those os8 color and pencils a few weeks ago so he might have some he never listed. I don't think I've ever see a color or pencil for any of the giant cards.
