Hello fellow GPK brothers and sisters! My name is Josh. Sloshed Josh, from Phoenix AZ. I am 34, which puts me in 2nd / 3rd grades when OS GPK came out. I remember my grandma bought me a whole box of 3rd series GPK back in the day! They used to sell the at the gas stayions here in Phoenix in the 80's. Awesome!
Ive been collecting GPK since '86. My collection was stolen in a burglary in 1994, and it devastated me. (I lost full boxes of every OS release, complete sets 1 - 15, bouncy balls, folders, toys, giant cards, UK cards, etc, etc, etc!) Ever since ive been rebuilding my older items from ebay and trying to stay ahead of the curve with the new releases.
Professionally (or unprofessionally dependung on who you ask!) I left my job in substance abuse & trauma counseling and started selling computer equipment and small electronics on eBay full time in 2012. My favorite things in life include emeralds, lamborghinis, laughing w good friends and family, french toast, and Garbage Pail Kids.
If I could be a super hero I would be Green Lantern or Aqua Man. I love driving and road trips. My favorite GPK, its gotta be a tie between Janet Planet, Mad Max, and Split Kit. My GPK avatar is Sloshed Josh. I dream of one day owning my own fireworks manufacturing and display production company.

Hi everyone! This is sort of funny because it's really my son who collects GPK, but he's only 9, so I help him out. But now I'm sort of hooked on collecting them with him. I love this old school kind of message board! I was so afraid of GPK when I was little so it's really hysterical that we have so many around the house now! My name is Jeremy. I was 7 years old in 1985. I was hooked on GPK from then on. I was a professional musician for years, I loved it, but there is not a lot of money in the music I play (blues.) I have a few videos on Youtube, message me if you are interested in seeing them and I will PM you the link. It is not about the money - but you have to eat, replace equipment, buy gas, pay bills, etc. At some point, if it doesn't make dollars - it doesnt make sense  Anyway. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology and I am currently in a graduate program for science education. My collection is a hodge podge of USA OS/new series and foreign. Israel GPK are my favorite. Currently I have GPK from the UK, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Australia. My other hobby is bonsai. I have about 30 trees. Some of which I grew from seeds. Around New Years 2014 I found a binder full of the Original series at a local used Books, Games, and Music store which was unusual and on a whim bought the whole thing. There wasn't a complete series but there was enough to start with and spark my interest. Funny enough 2 days later I kept noticing GPK at different booths at a flea market, most were over priced but I bought a few pages off a short middle aged guy selling vintage porn. By the end of the week I had over 400 (including duplicates). Since then I've tapered off, I haven't found any more places selling older cards aside from one comic book store on occasion. Usually when I go to Target or Toys R Us I make it a point to buy at least one pack of whatever they have, which has produced a huge stack that I need to get a new binder for. I've picked up the bug again in the last week or so after seeing so many posts of cool and rare pieces on the GPK Marketplace on Facebook, I ended up grabbing a few 2014 collectors edition and 2015 21+1 packs as well as the comics and a base 2013 chrome set. So far I haven't snagged anything rare or worth over $5, but between buying the small packs at Dollar Tree and picking from what's left at Target and TRU I didn't expect to. Still new to the whole hobby, I've been wondering what's the best way to get the rare cards? I've bought the 4-pack boxes and the 21+1 packs and wondered if there's a different place I should look for those or is there a different packaging to look for. |
