2010 represent at Babyland, Cleveland, GA. f**k CPK New collection thread! Have a new camera, and can take the quality shots I used to be known for, rusVan's 'stale' period is over. I've taken literally THOUSANDS of Cheap Toy pics, and the thought of redoing that makes me want to puke. So... This thread will be all new pics of the highlights, and then I will post novelty "fun" pics of my gpk stuff. This is my 4th, and LAST collection thread, sent my last collection thread to the graveyard -it was crap, and my first two collection threads were lost in the system dump 3 years ago. No more candy and novelty toy posts, no more weekly posts. I don't have time for that s**t anyway. I still collect candy, but you can come to Candy Novelty Marketplace on FB to see it. GPK ONLY, straight dope. Will update like the rest of you cats update your threads -whenever. Btw, please visit my Photobucket page to see the old pics, most of my pics from UG post-2009 are there, I deleted my pre-2009 Photobucket one night in a rage a long time ago, lol.... anyways..... I'm locking this thread until I get it built right, and then you guys can post on it. Be patient, this s**t takes time... soundcloud.com/50_cent/im-the-man-ft-sonny-digital

I've spent a large part of the last 8 years collecting Garbage Pail Kids Cheap Toys, bought my first lot in April of 2008, after drooling over people's Cheap Toy pics for a year. By July, I had made up my mind, "I WILL have the best Cheap Toy collection in the World." I paid the price. I almost quit many times, the financial strain almost ruined my marriage; I am a public school teacher and did all this with a measly salary, no savings. In 2011, I met up with my old friend Cheaptoyman in Thompson, Ga at a Chinese resturant to pick up the Cheap Toy color rough. I paid him through Paypal, but he was afraid to mail it, and he lives close by and agreed to meet me, one afternoon while I commuted to college -I was working on my Masters at University of Georgia at the time. We got a quick bite, and took a few pics, and made the Cheaptoyland 2011 promo video and I rushed on to Athens. Here's one of the pics from that day: Here's the promo we made a few minutes later in an adjacent parking lot (Video Warehouse): I will never forget how scared I was that someone might break into my car and steal the Cheap Toy box art -what I bum I would have been! On the drive back, in the dark I held the box art and screamed with joy, I let the windows down and let the chilly air parade in. Got it framed just in time to bring it to UGCon 2011, everybody was stoked to see it, I literally scored it a week before.

In 2008 I emailed Bunk to look for old Cheap Toy drawings so I could buy them, he said he thought he had found them all, and said he'd look, months and months went by, I send a email, he didn't respond, I contacted AJ to urge Bunk for me, and finally Bunk responded and said he will look! Uhg.. He contacted me out of the blue and said he found 2 and he posted the 2 drawings on AJ's GPK World site, had 300.00 on both pencil drawings. I contacted Bunk, and basically got on to him for going around me and posting them. He said he would give me a deal and I ended up buying the first one for 100.00, in the summer of 2009. This drawing was the worse of the 2 drawings, but I bought this one because Bunk said this is the first Cheap Toy box sketch! It's the first time he tried to lay down the elements into one composition. I love it. Thank you, Tom and AJ!!!

Cheap Toy Boxes: I have them all, of course. The rarest being the Series 1 Canadian Aqua box and the Series 1 Outer Case box, both are 1 of 1's. The next rarest is the Series 2 Novo Bonbon box, a 1 of 2. Next, a Garbage Gang box, 1 of 4 known, when I bought mine it was a 1 of 2. Next rarest is my NRMT Series 1 box, and last rarest is the UK box. enjoy Series 1 Outer Case Box. I scored this 2 years ago from a friend who used to work at Topps, he sent it to me for free and it was in bad shape, it took over 10 man hours to arrive in the shape you see it today. I restored it myself this summer. Great piece, always dreamed of at least seeing a case box, wasn't disappointed -LOOK AT THE EXCLUSIVE BLUE/RED DESIGN!!!! Front orientation: Back: UPDATE!! A scored another Outer Case Box last Spring! Only the second one ever found, I have both! Here's a video of me opening that bitch!

Series One Cheap Toys is dearest to my heart of all GPK cards/items/etc. After 8 years of collecting Cheap Toys this is the best display I found, and I've owned dozens. I scored this from my old friend Ben Page, whom I have done many GPK/candy deals with over the years, such a cool guy to know! Sigh... Garbage Gang box -you know, Cinnamons, UK Aquas... those came out of boxes like this! Check out the logo redsigned into Garbage Gang! -Love that! Won this one hot, June afternoon in a bidding war with Skullz666, for 330.00, he took Cinnamon Heather, I took the box. He outbid me on Heather, she went for 345.00. Bittersweet day for me. I felt like this box looks. Btw, this box came from a UK chap named Robert Cox, super cool dude who also hooked me up with the best and rarest Garbage Can-dy cans I have in my collection.

Canadian Boxes: First up, the 1 of 1 'Canadian Aqua' Series 1 Canada Box, issued in late 1987, check out the KILLER overlay sticker translated in French-Canadian! I scored this from Thabearrocks, the guy with whom I've had the most deals with since I started back collecting 9 years ago. I scored this while vacationing in New Smyrna Beach Fl during Spring Break 2011, I left my wife and daughter on the beach to run back inside the villa to make the final payment, what a rush! Series 2 PROTOTYPE STILL JILL. There is only one known Series 2 prototype, this Green Still Jill, sent to Jay Lynch in 1988 by Jimmy Chan. It was sent to let Jay see how big the new series was going to be and the new attention to detail, yet he noted that they were still trying to create a better mold as to cast the nail head better, long story short it was shortened. The prototype as you see is missing the nail head, yet it's not broke off or cut off, it simply was not molded. Here's the "Jay Lynch Letter": Interestingly, the Prototype Still Jill is in a duller green plastic than regular Series 2's that came later, seems like they were still working with the formulas. Here's Jay's pen rough for 1988 Topps Robot Hatchlings, it's discussed in the letter, if was to be a Cheap Toy-style released, but was canceled...

I own 21 Super Rares, 15 are Series 1 Novos, 6 are Magentas. First, here are the 15 (or 14.5 depending on how you view Novo Blue Bomby) Series 1 Novo Bonbon Cheap Toy Super Rares.

Probably the best one, or at least the sweetest, SUNSHINE ADAM BOMB! The most iconic GPK ever in the fan favorite Novo Bonbon Sunshine Yellow. When I scored this on December evening, I almost walked away from the hobby, what more would there be for a Cheap Toy collector to accomplish?

The FIRST Series 1 Cheap Toy EVER found, Jason Tristjan's Sunshine Leaky Lindsay, in 2006. Since, two more yellow Tessies have been found, but none with the Factory Error hole in the base of the neck, like this example has. The error tilts her head slightly back, and I sometimes refer to her as "Stargazer Lindsay." Legendary toy, here she is, frontal and coy: My original pic from 2010 driving home after picking him up in Warrenton, Ga at 'Cheap Toy Summit 3':

The toy I traded for 3 Magentas, the toy that kept me hungry. In 2010, Myself and Lee Sessions (leeroy)- A guy I used to consider my 'best friend,' went toe to toe on Brian Wright's ebay auctions, including 5 Super Rares, and numerous secondary S1 rares, it was a long battle, and when the smoke clear we both walked away with some awesome stuff. Well, Sunshine Petey was one of my hauls. Bought him for 20.00, lol. Here is my spirited video of the package reveal from April 2010, probably my favorite mail day ever, I was so surprised Brian mailed me those toys, all he had to do was refund me and Lee... btw, funny how quaint my CT collection was 5 years ago... click on pic/link to watch old video! Long story short, I traded him, with some cash, for 3 Magentas (one of which was Magenta Lindsay!). It was bittersweet, I LOVED Yellow Dave!!! I waited 3 years, and one day Barry Lake found a second Sunshine Petey, and I bought him immediately, giving up my dibs on Sunshine Heather. I decision I don't regret, but worth noting, wink, wink. So, I've owned both known Sunshine Peteys, this is the minty-est of the two -the first one has a black inclusion in one leg, strangely.. This one is pristine:

Sunshine Putty, 1 of 3, the first popped up in a random eBay lot in Las Vegas, the second and third were found by, Barry Lake, Legendary Cheap Toy hunter in Canada. I bought this along with Petey, and it's worth noting that this toy is called "Humpback Megan" because her back is misshaped, she is actually hard to stand. Here's the original reveal pic of her hump:

This toy was bought by Lee Sessions, he outbid me, but I bought it from him 3 years later via GPK-kid, since Lee refused to talk to me. I paid a large amount of money, the most I've ever paid for a collectible (however, Red Thin Lynn 'cost' me more through trade value). I decline to admit what I paid, its a testament to my sickness and greed. But, f**k, look at her, she's worth every penny, yo.

"What's your favorite Cheap Toy in your massive Cheap Toy collection, rusVan?," the creep asks... Why, that's easy. Novo Blue Lynn, she's from another planet. She's probably better than Sunshine Adam, if he weren't so damn iconic.... If I die, bury her with me. **Blue Thin Lynn was in a lot from the UK!!!!!!!! Me, Doug, and CTM split the lot in 2010 and I got Green Kirk, CTM got Blue Lynn, and Doug got the rest, later that year I bought her from CTm for a measly 800.00. The June day I got her, it was so sunny out, I had the summer off to look forward to, I can still see the package, and remember opening it to see that neon Novo blue color! I take thee to the grave, when its our time....

My first Super Rare, the only pre-2008 Super Rare CTM didn't buy from Tristjan or Gris (Mark), for obvious reasons. I didn't even know about Blue Adam, no pictures of it, no mention, only by talking with Gris did he tell me about Blue Adam in passing, told me when he was ten he took a pair of scissors and cut Adam's mushroom cloud off, but lost the mushroom cloud. I asked him if he would sell it, he said he would think about it, it was sentimental. Finally he said he would take 200.00 for it, I paid for it and got it early 2009. Gris decorated the envelope, made my day. What a day that was! A pic I took forever ago, imagining if he had a cloud... ...

My last great Cheap Toy score came in Summer 2012, GPK-Kid and I outbid Czarcher for a lot that consisted of Novo Blue Chris!!!!! and three Series 2's -one of the most legendary Cheap Toy eBay auctions ever, I took Blue Chris and Blue Glen and Sean took the other two S2's and the misc. commons, our 1500.00 bid was the highest! This is the only Novo Bonbon Chris ever found, so happy he is in Novo Blue!

The first Alice Novo ever found was this one, Green, and sat in Gpk-kids collection until November 2013 when I bought it. I sold all 5 of my Bukimi Kun stickers (peeled and stuck on a background) to raise the money to buy her. Glad I did! I only paid 20.00 TOTAL for the 5 BK half stickers! Still have a good laugh about that from time to time.... Good God, here she is... In early 2016 I scored BLUE Novo Alice from my friend Jackson!

I TRADED 5 SERIES 2 NOVO BONBONS FOR THIS NOVO RED LYNN. Enuf said. original 2011 pic: I bought this for 20.00, lol, outbid Sessions for it, that night of nights. She was the first Heather Novo ever found, then 3 years later Barry found a yellow one. Such a cool toy!

The most underrated Cheap Toy in HISTORY: Novo Red Adam Bomb, our most iconic GPK in red, Novo Red no less, yeah... Bought this in spring of 2009 from Barry Lake, along with Novo Green Petey (that I later traded for two Magentas). I traded Barry two Series 2 Novos for this beaut. Here's the rare, original early 2009 pic, taken the day I got them. Look at the rage!

Magentas were discovered by Ben Bruns on June 11, 2012, after he bought a box from a dealer in Pennsylvania, who had a ton of Topps proofs and test market stuff. Ben called me first, that even after he opened the box and found some packs that shown purply colors, namely a Janie pack! I immendiately SCREAMED "magenta!" "you found the magenta janie on the sell sheet, I always said she existed , but no one believed me!" etc. Ben made a crude Youtube video that night, and shocked the hobby. For the next two summer months deals insued, friendships were made, friendships were lost, other boxes were found, many hard decisions were made. HERE's the RARE video, UG EXCLUSIVE, this video was sent directly to me, and by the title you can tell it was not meant to be seen by the public... just got special permission from Ben to reveal the original June 11th 2012 videos he took that very night!! Here is Magenta Janie # 1. She is a 1 of 3, she is the first Magenta ever pulled, and the one pulled in the legendary Youtube video.

Magenta Thin Lynn, originally came out of GI Jason's Magenta box (box #2), I bought/traded it from Gpk-Kid, it was the last Magenta I got. The bag had a small slit near the top, not wide enough for the figure to be removed, but wide enough to check the color of the figure. The flaw irritated me, and along with the fact that Lynn is my favorite Cheap Toy sculpt, I wanted to open her. I decided to have CTM open the pack instead, so I could film, plus I was trying to convince him for months magentas are real. Here's the destroyed wrapper, and inside... 'remnants of the Crummy Candy that exploded in the pack!' -Love that!

Magenta Lindsay. One of the best toys in my collection. Of all the Magentas that popped up, she was the one I wanted most, I gave up Sunshine Petey for her. One rainy day, I will open her. No video, no stage, just me and her, alone, shaking, weeping, love making...

"The Topps Letter." Three years ago I was contacted by a dealer, whom I've known from the beginning who found a letter in his archive he thought I might be interested in. He used to work at Topps during the the 80's, helping distribute products on the upper east coast. The letter was the announcement letter for Cheap Toys and was directed towards him and other distributors like himself, he knew of 3 others like himself, and believes this could be the only remaining example of this insider announcement letter. The sell sheet was a part of the letter, a case info page, and the cover sheet! He explained it was first given to him so he could 'learn' the new product, and he could share the sell sheet proof to dealers in his district. I was given to me stapled.
