Hey Everyone,
We have a new section on the UG called "Hey Topps" which is dedicated to promoting interaction between Topps Chewing Gum, Inc. and the fans. On this board you can ask questions or post comments that you may have about any of their current products or future releases. Topps employees are encouraged to use the board to answer fan questions, promote upcoming products, and conduct marketing research (see what the fans really want).
***Please Note***
This is a great opportunity for the fans to voice their opinions on their favorite collectibles and have Topps take them into consideration. Inflammatory and derogatory comments will not be tolerated and will be removed immediately. If you violate Cory's "don't be a douche" rule, the proper action will be taken.

I would imagine if this turns into 98% complaining, 2% constructive feedback that Topps employees will not be very motivated to continually read and comment. Here's hoping for the best.
My first comment. I'd love to see promo card for every set. It can be available through the mail (send SASE), NSU magazine, conventions, whatever. Just would love to see them.

I would love for Topps to take measures to make pack searching harder, not easier.

I would love for Topps to take measures to make pack searching harder, not easier. This would be my first suggestion as well. If pack searching were impossible I'd buy packs every time I stopped into a Target

While pack searching is a growing problem, the package design of the most recent Chrome release of Wacky Packages illustrates how Tops could make simple adjustments to make retail consumers feel more confident about their purchase, and in turn, help you move more product.
It's really in everyone's best interest.

Hope they don't do that with gpk or ever again for that matter, yeesh. We still have 2014 series 1 feeds here spilling over full and no one is buying because they have all been searched and people know it. If they would just fix the problem, I would always grab a handful of packs when I'm out but ordering hobby online is the only way to go until that happens.

I miss advertising posters in the display boxes. They look great as a divider between series in my binder.

Since I got a few PMs about this I will address it publicly. People have been asking if Topps was made aware of the new section on the UG that was created for them to interact with fans and the answer is no, not officially. This guy "Alvin" was contacted by another member and myself informing him about the new board and inviting other Topps employees to chime in but I have yet to get a response. They (Topps) are not obligated to answer questions or respond to comments from the UG obviously, but we figured we would give them a platform, other than Facebook and whatever other GPK groups are out there, to interact with the fans if they wish.

I never formally informed anyone that I would be posting here. I only chimed in to answer some questions and address some concerns over the SDCC Jumbo Cards. I know they do periodically read these forums, but their involvement is entirely at their discretion.

I can see how this might be problematic for Topps. Don't get me wrong I would love to have reps interact with us but I'm sure there is only so much they can legally say with out getting there self in a morass type of situation.
Alvin, I hope you stay, maybe you can be an example for other reps from Topps to come answer questions and interact with collectors. One thing is for sure an avenue like this would be very beneficial for Topps and collectors! Thanks for your participation!

I will pop in from time to time, but to be clear, I don't really work on the standard releases, mostly just licensed stuff, and even though I do have SOME knowledge of what goes on, it really isn't my place to be discussing it, especially publicly.
Regarding some of the licensed stuff, there is some really exciting news on the GPK comic coming-- the first one-shot special is being worked on now and because I don't have clearance from IDW to announce anything officially, I will say only that you will all be very happy with the creative team.
I also love the name of the first issue! Mostly because I thought of it, but still…!

I knew the initial image would be met with some skepticism-- Peter Bagge is a pretty well-known (and highly respected) creator in the comics scene, and the idea for the comic is that it will be an anthology featuring a number of different creators across a variety of styles and sensibilities.
But I can confirm that the book will include many of our artists, doing both covers and stories inside.

A bunch of litte stories done in very different art styles.

Its great to see an interaction thread and gpk suggestions. Thank you Alvin for being here!
I have to agree about the hobby box vs retail and not knowing what to find where etc. IE: chrome 2 blaster boxes at some stores do not contain x fractors in the bonus packs but only walmart blasters do? This is truth or rumor? Is there a specific location, topps web site, that we can get the LATEST news and release information and truth to product info without having to google search or scour forums for he said she said?.... even a topps blog thats updated once a week with release info, places to buy all products, etc. thoughts?
I just found the topps entertainment facebook page (only 127 likes as of today) and they hinted at a new gpk binder release...woot woot!

I'm not a facebook user. It would be cool if the topps sight had more checklist information on releases, like how to get certain bonus cards and parallels.

Topps add hobby box bonus cards both in hobby and retail some of us live in states where there is no card shop available to pick up hobby and retail is our only option. I'm at the point where I'm going to stop buying any GPK and strictly buy from ebay. I've spent 1000's of dollars on shitty odds plus with all these pack searchers now and days I just pick up hot packs for hits, which mean you lose a great customer and these searchers are getting the money when it can be your company.

The hobby box bonus cards are just an added incentive for collectors to shell out the money for hobby boxes. Take those away and the hobby boxes are less attractive.
