Why should someone get their name on the credits for donating less? The ones who support it more should get better perks.

What would be the harm? I see people who donated what they could (small amounts) that were not eligible to receive anything, were donating from the heart. They can of course tier the "billing" with font size and length of time like they typically do with the cast and crew. I just think it would be a nice gesture and would be impressed to see a ton of names come on at the end. I would like to think people are not just donating a certain amount just to get their name on it, but maybe I am wrong.

I donated $100 for the Film and of course to have my name on it. The "prizes" were just a bonus.

lol, yeah, some people will buy into "buying exclusivity", but when it comes to straight-up asking for money, I don't think it makes sense. I was not too interested in tangible goods (or even "credit"), just supporting an idea that embodied a certain philosophy, but for me this one came across the wrong way.
I feel this doc could easily be funded in less time if it made some tweaks. I do wonder what the cost breakdowns were since some indies seem to be using relatively cheap gear like DSLRs to film with. I would imagine travel to be somewhat expensive .

I was pretty happy with what they were offering. For $25 i would get a few cards and a DVD. That seemed awesome to me. I almost did the $100 for the credit as that was super awesome but honestly cannot afford it. O well not really worth discussing at this point. The topic should move to....
What are the next steps now? Redo the kickstarter? Or what else?

Well, yeah, I was talking about if they did a new Kickstarter, but I just read an update that they have no immediate plans to do a new one (not totally ruled-out though) and have some leads in locating a producer/investor.

They sent out a new email saying they are going to look for a producer/investor. They also said that while a kickstarter campaign is unlikely, it isn't completely ruled out and they are not gonna give up on the film. I do agree that if they redo it the tiers should be tweeked a little and perhaps the budget recalculated.

I just think it would be a nice gesture and would be impressed to see a ton of names come on at the end. I would like to think people are not just donating a certain amount just to get their name on it, but maybe I am wrong. At $100 I thought that was generous to allow a name in the credits. While I think most people donated cause it was something they believed in, the prizes at some of the tiers was/is a deciding factor to donate a little more. I was originally going to do only $25, the name in the credits is what got me to do $100. Anything less than that seems like it is watering the film down. You don't want too many producer and special thanks names littering the credits. If people can't afford to donate to those levels that is their loss. I think only the tiers below $100 need some slight tweeking, and perhaps the 2-3 highest tiers as well.

Perhaps you are right, but apparently not enough people thought it was enticing enough to donate at that level to get it successfully funded. Would it have hurt funding to make lower levels get a credit at the end? Maybe, but I at least don't think it would really be stealing other people's thunder since most people don't bother to watch the whole credits anyway (and there were already more than 70 ppl at $100+ level anyway). It was just a thought as to foster goodwill since theoretically it could not have succeeded if they were $1 short so all funds help in the end to make it happen. Anyway, it is totally done now, but it is interesting to evaluate if you ever want to do your own KS project.

is the film still going to be produced as financial goal was not reached?

is the film still going to be produced as financial goal was not reached? I think they are going to look at more options but they do want to produce the film. They are going to try to find investors. Maybe the kickstarter thing generated enough hype to get an investor who will fund it.

If I had enough disposable cash I would have funded the remainder instead of just holding firm at the $200 I pledged. Not enough rich people like GPK. Hopefully the private investor thing comes though.

Is this going to be available for streaming at all? It seems like the perfect thing to put on Netflix. Maybe they'll put it on GOG like with The King Of Arcades?

Man, every time I get an update I get super excited for like 24 hours and then I forget about it for a couple of months. My collection pictures I sent in are super out-dated at this point, wish I could update with my acquisitions over the last year or so. :-D
Seriously, this is going to be freaking sweet when we get the movie and all of the gift packs and whatnot but aahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the wait!!!!
