The Aix-en-Provence comics convention is currently curating an exhibition dedicated to a french artist, Frédéric Voisin. His last work is a tribute to Basil Wolverton, Ugly Monsters and Panini. To celebrate the exhibition, the artist is organising some kind of quest in the city : an album is provided and the convention fans have to find out all the cards distributed by the city's stores (for free)... Here comes the Comics Convention instructions : "Track the ET's all over the city and collect the cards which look like Paninis and Crados cards..." You can purchase silkscreens via the artist's store : www.frederic-voisin-apocalypse.net/vente-doeuvres.html

"Hara-Kiri", a french satirical magazine, released an issue dedicated to Les Crados in the late 80's. This magazine was pretty libertarian and was laughing at conservative people like Cousteau... Here comes a translation of the title : Porn Garbage Pail Kids to bug CousteauThis Explorin' Norman looks like a freaking pervert...

Lucky you... My parents got rid of my Crados albums years ago... could be worse, i had every single gijoe figure and vehicle from 1984-1988 and it was all sold at some swapmeet when i was 12. Including the aircraft carrier (AND box worth 1000$). Just kills me to think about it still argh...

pepé, do you collect the dead panini club? I am wondering what it is like... I do own a pack of each set. The cards are not stickers, this is printed on cardstock and the cards backs look like usual playing cards backs. Their size is just a little smaller than the GPK cards. Each card is designed by an underground artist/cartoonist/illustrator. Let me know if you have any other question !

R.I.P. :
This book is really cool too :
As these are silent stories, you can purchase the french or the american edition. The french books are beautiful items (hardcover...) but more expensive.

Thanks for the constant updates pepe. I love the incognitos My pleasure. "Los Incognitos" series is pretty cool. I love scratchboard art... If you like scratchboard and comics, you should read that : Thomas Ott is an artist from Switzerland. His silent stories are drawn on scratchboards. His art is real dope.

I already posted this in another thread ( link) : Bérurier Noir is the headlining band of the french punk scene in the 80's. They released a live LP in 1990 untitled "Viva Bertaga". The front cover of this album features several Crados-like cards representing the band members : A better pic of these Crados-like cards : The vinyl was reissued in 2012 and can be purchased via eBay.fr...

Another one : pipolos.over-blog.com/On this blog, a guy posted some photomontages based on Les Crados. Most of them refer to french stars. The pictures and the "plays on words" are sometimes cheesy but I have to admitt some of them made me laugh...
