I am pretty new to the Australia/New Zealand cards and have a question.
I know the 2nd, 3rd and 4th series Australia/New Zealand cards are the same. I read there are separate sets for the 1st series (1 in New Zealand set, 1 in Australia set). How can one tell the difference between these 1st series sets?
Also how rare are all of these sets? I see Australia 3rd series cards on eBay all the time but haven't seen 1st, 2nd or 4th in a long time.
Anyone have any of these sets for trade or sale? I'm in the market.
Thanks for any infos.

The Australian Garbage Gang OS1 have the straight banner. The New Zealand Garbage Gang OS1 have the curved banner.

Hi gpkware,
I have never seen that calendar before, would be super hard to find because of its rarity. Let me know if you find out any more.

I love that bony tony box!! That box is awesome, just my luck the only box I have from when I was a kid is the common 3rd series.I found a 1st series wrapper in some of my old stuff the other day. I'm just now starting to re collect all that New Zealand stuff so if anyone out there has extras or stuff they don't want any more please contact me I will buy it. Some one still needs to change this threads title, Australia is always trying to take credit for stuff we do. I know we didn't have any thing to do with the art or concepts or really very much at all but credit should go where credit is due.

Can any one help with this one? How come this mint box I got when I was a kid has a 40 cents white circle on the box? And this one has a blank white circle? is it because the second box is from Australia instead of NZ? or is it a different print run? Thanks for any help.

I Potty Scotty! sorry, no extras for sale this is all I have in the way of unopened packs. Its funny to think that they were made down here in New Zealand, somehow ended up in London & then came all the way back home again.

Looks like a typo, doesn't it. I have heard that uncut sheets were sent to Aus then cut up and packaged. they may have been sent back to NZ after that perhaps

Here are the backs of Aus and NZ 1st and 3rd series wrappers. NZ on the top row, Aus on the bottom, 1st series on the left, 3rd series on the right. You can see that the NZ 1st series pack doesnt have 'distributed in Australia' info, but the other 3 do. Does anyone have NZ & Aus 2nd series wrappers? I think i have a scan of the live mike 2nd series wrapper, but not the blue adam bomb version. Here is a scan of the NZ & Aus 3rd series wrapper front, interesting that the green is so different. Finally, here is the evolution from UK 1st series to Australian 1st series wrappers. from left to right; UK (printed in Ireland by Topps), Australian Test (printed in Ireland by Topps), New Zealand (printed in NZ by Regina), Australia (printed in NZ by Regina)

Rob great pics. Its great to see these versions side by side. I dont think i have ever seen all of these wrappers. Are the test packs pretty scarce? gpkware Thanks Chris. I like the way each wrapper in turn has its subtle changes. I only know of one other person with an Australian test wrapper, Hes a collector in Australia. I am trying to track down more from this test set, i want a sealed pack for my collection, or better yet a full box. I am trying to establish whether it is an 88 card variation set(with 'a' & 'b' cards, identical to the UK 1st series) or if it is a 44 card variation set(just 'a' cards like the other test sets produced by Topps ireland) If i learn any more or locate anything else from this set i will be sure to update this thread.
