Howdy to anyone reading this. As a new person here I feel a little worried asking because this might be a waste of your time or just makes me look like an idiot (which I am). As a new person is it encouraged to post topics or to keep quiet? I come from the Sports collecting world from the 80s. Topps was always the cheap pack to buy and had a long history. What happened in the GPK world that Topps pissed so many people off? No other company can make these, right? Topps keeps pumping out new stuff from what I can see over the 4 months I have started collecting these again. Did Topps fire the best artists or do something shady? I have not seen a single pack of GPK at Target or Walmart in the whole 4 months that I have collected. My curiosity is partially because I have not seen the prices with my own eyes at the stores. On eBay, the mark ups are surely higher. Just wondering if I too should be angry with Topps.  |

My two biggest problems are 1) the former art director putting his wife's terrible artwork in every series, and 2) they keep diluting the brand with incremental online releases related to politics, bands, wrestling, old movies, whatever crossover collectible market they can think of. GPK have lost their way from a product that had artwork of consistently quality, depicted gross kids, and the joke actually made sense.
Don't let other people tell you what to be angry about, though.

Most of the art doesn't look like the source material. Some is great but there is too much bad. Theme crap has taken over. No original fun ideas. Now we get full releases about bands and movies and crap. Original GPK were varied and cool. You can't complete sets. Nobody is getting 100% of anything anymore. Chase cards (hits). This turns some on and some off. I don't know if anyone is angry at Topps anymore, we are just used to their incompetence. |

Come sons of GPK and kneel before Im! Let us bow our unworthy heads and pray to she giver of GPK happiness! She who created the Heavens and earth, the animals and plants, who created the land and the sea, who created man in her image, who made the world bountiful and finally who before she rested created DTAB! And all was good. Bless you Im for you are a true visionary! You gave your all every ounce of your being to create the best GPK’s of all time!

Topps is a bag of dirty schmeckles that couldn’t find their way out of an 5 foot by 5 foot open field with people shooting flares for where to go and someone holding their hand leading them through a path flanked with guardrails to keep there asses from wandering off.

I was a bit harsh and should walk it back a bit. I have no drawing skills so, maybe I should appreciate what is available. It is easy to talk trash but, it takes a bigger person to throw compliments. Looking forward to the day that I can know what I am talking about when it comes to GPK stuff.
