A weird thing happened today. After I bought a U.S. series 2 mini-proof from a different seller on ebay yesterday, I sent a best-offer to probstein123 for another U.S. series 2 mini-proof he had listed. Probstein's mini-proof has been listed on ebay at a very high price seemingly since the dawn of time. Yet, after I sent my best-offer, it sold to someone else.
Is seems very coincidental that an item that has been languishing on ebay for an eon would all of a sudden sell immediately after I make a best-offer. What is going on here? Is there something about this seller that I don't know?

Hmmm, that's interesting. I've only bought from probstein a couple times. When I bought 4 proofs, I offered much lower than his asking price. I don't like to insult buyers and low-ball them, but these are so over-priced. After some back and forth, he finally agreed to come down to Earth and I got them for less than half price.

I did the same thing. He was asking $320 (!) for the proof, and I offered $75. Much lower than his asking price, but much more reasonable. If he had countered at $100 I probably would have accepted it. But he didn't counter at all. Who knows, maybe he really did sell it to someone else. But the whole situation seems really fishy.

I thought if I’m not mistaken he is consignment. I’m not sure any if not all is actually his. But that could be a cover. People have confirmed sending s**t to him to sell. I just read back. My soft boil sam chrome 2 auto was psa9 I hate graded for chrome But was twice as much as any other auto. At $168 Bidding on eBay. I think I paid over $300 As max bid !!!! I’m gonna take a guess here and say I’ll probably end up paying more for the last 4 I need

As i was told they will let the seller of the item know what is the offer. Sometimes low offers will then be accepted or countered. Then the seller ultimatly accepts. They told me they are just the middle man.

This is the guy that lists a proof for almost 30,000 and trump art for almost 25,000. His prices are no where near the realm of reality I'm sure he must understand that. There aren't many finals I would consider paying 30k for, let alone some f**cking proof.

I think if I remember right probstein is a consigner. So they might not even own the pieces.

He probably doesn't own it. I'm still watching like a hawk to see if he relists it. Because then I'll yell "AHA!" and scare the crap out of my cat.

Maybe someone saw that I got one for $60 and thought they should pay $320 for his before they missed out. Maybe someone on this very message board... . The plot thickens!

I recently bought a couple items from probstein and he gave me a decent deal. So I may have judged him too harshly a few months ago. I take back any suspicions I had about him. But everyone else is still suspect!
