Can anyone give me some information about the 2nd series mini GPK set that was apparently never released? I found only two brief mentions of it, on the gpkworld website under their "GPK Timelime":
1987 - 2nd Series U.S. mini Garbage Pail Kids (42-83a/b card set) - CANCELLED 1989 - Unpublished 2nd Series U.S. Mini Garbage Pail Kids (card set) - July 1989
Someone had one of the proofs listed in an auction that ended earlier today. I didn't even know such a release was something that Topps had planned. Was this a continuation of the U.K. series 1 cards? Because there wasn't a U.S. mini series 1 release.
If it was to be a continuation of the U.K. series 1 cards, that seems a little weird since there was a U.K. series 2 set released. Why release mini series 2 in the U.S. and the U.K., but not have released mini series 1 in the U.S.?
Also, it appears this set was slated for release two times - once in 1987, and again in 1989. I'm assuming both planned releases were for the same set, but who knows.
Does anyone have additional information about this set? Does anyone here have any of the proofs?
Thanks!

I remembered when Topps sold those. They sold the fronts and believe the backs, checklist and the live Mike puzzle (was larger than the rest) maybe closer in size to 5x7 ?
There really isnt much known about these since the project got shelved..

Found an old pic that GPKTILLDEATH had posted in a FB group of an unpublished mini OS2 proof. “Unpublished Topps OS2 1989 mini proof” If I had to guess why this release got axed, the Peel Here arrow facing inward could’ve caused major issues. I don’t think there’s ever been a mini release that has been die-cut. (Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong). Normally the arrow points outward. New mini die-cuts would also have to be made to adjust to the straight GPK post-lawsuit banner. Attempting to release in 1989 after OS15 failed miserably a year prior was another huge mistake. Only foreign GPK releases were getting made at this time by Topps. Now’s the time to release this unpublished set!

I didn't find him by doing a member search, but maybe he goes by a different name. I would gladly buy this from him, assuming (1) he's selling at a reasonable price, (2) the Topps seal is unbroken, and (3) he has the CoA.

Yeah, GPKTILLDEATH is no longer on the UG. I think he is on Facebook, but I wouldn't know since I don't have an account.
I've got a Cracked Jack mini proof, and you can see a pic on my collection thread. That ain't for sale though!

Time to pull out the heavy guns for this trade. Not 1, not 2, but 3 Hillary Clinton GPKs. I know I'm exceedingly generous.

I think Henry sold them all a while back! I can get ahold of him and ask for you though. As for Luis... Dude, that would have been Bad Fricken Ars!! Mini Die-cuts
