Greetings fellow GPKUGers!
For those that have uncut 132 card sheets which measure 29" x 43", what are you guys using to store & display them? I bought a ten (10) pack of BCW top loaders sized 29" x 43" which cost just under $90 shipped. They are made of a supposed photosafe, plasticizer, and acid-free PVC. Here is what BCW has to say about their top loaders:
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
Polyvinyl chloride is a flexible or rigid material that is relatively inert and chemically non-reactive. It is resistant to water and corrosion, and possesses a high strength-to-weight ratio. It is tough and dent-resistant, and it maintains its properties over long periods of time. Polyvinyl chloride, commonly known as PVC or vinyl, is one of the most widely used synthetic materials today due to its durability and versatility. Common uses include piping, vinyl siding, vinyl flooring, electrical insulation, windows, toys, medical equipment, cloth and paper coating, packaging, and countless other plastic products.
PVC has been attacked by various groups on the basis of environmental performance - all of which ignore the immense service that the material plays in the modern industrial society. Rigid PVC is physiologically safe and has no health and safety implications, and plasticized PVC is used extensively in food packaging. PVC contains no products that are likely to give rise to health and safety concerns. PVC is claimed to be dangerous by some but it is the main material used for blood bags and medical tubing and has been responsible for saving countless lives.
I don't have any experience with BCW top loaders but some forum-searching leads me to believe that they may yellow or become brittle over time. From what I gather it is possible that this degradation could affect the card stock inside. I am a firm believer in "do it once, do it right" so before I hang a few of these bad boys up I want to weigh my options.
E Gerber produces a 4 mil thick archive quality mylar in 31" x 43" which is just a couple of inches too wide for proper display. A pack of 10 costs $84 + S&H. Does anyone know of any 29" x 43" sized mylar or any archival quality method for displaying these awesome uncut sheets?
