I finally got around to organizing my collection for a photo. It's nothing compared to what I see in here most of the time, but hopefully you all enjoy a quick peek. I'm still building the collection and improving my sets. For every box pictured I have that series' completed set. I don't have the boxes for OS2, OS13, or OS14 yet, but was able to complete those sets. I continue to be obsessed with this hobby, reliving some of my childhood joys, and it shows no signs of slowing.
About my sets:
For the OS sets, I have everything but OS1 and OS15. I need to find a great deal or somehow convince my wife that I'm not out of my mind (I am). I've started bidding on card lots that have mixes of cards, hoping to slowly build those sets over time.
I also have two OS2 sets, one is pretty rough with a dozen of the cards having writing on the back. The other set is the Live Mike puzzle set and has cards that are in really great physical near-mint condition. The only issue with that one is the cards clearly have been exposed to a dingy or smoky environment. The white borders aren't white, and they are all l uniformly off-white (very faint yellowing) compared to my other sets. I'm replacing these one by one with cards gained from random lots.
The rest of the sets are 99% mint/pack fresh with only a handful of exception cards with insignificant issues which I intend to replace over time. I see this as an excuse to keep collecting, and I love it.
For the new stuff, I have great siblings that shower me with GPK stuff every holiday season. As an adult that has nearly every practical thing I need in life, it's great to get things I'd rarely grab on my own. With that said, and not ungrateful, I have lost all faith that Topps will deliver a decent product in the future. Trashy TV and AG where just so bad. I won't rehash all the reasons why, as they are all over this forum, but it's such a let down. How can they be that bad on so many levels? I really don't get it.
About the boxes:
Many of the boxes are full to one third full of unopened packs. For those that were opened, I carefully (with latex gloves) saved every wrapper and placed the gum into a penny sleeve which I promptly sealed.....to preserve.....freshness.
None of my opened pack cards (unless they were searched - pretty sure at least one Series 9 box was) have been physically handled by human hands outside of my latex glove. I used pantyhose to clean off wax damaged cards, and then transferred all cards directly to penny sleeves. Completed sets were then, in their penny sleeves, transferred to Monster Protectors binders. The rest go straight to the white cardboard boxes for storage and future completion, sorted by series and card number. It sounds ridiculous as I have no intention of selling the collection, but it's been such a relaxing hobby to tackle after the stresses of work, and after the wife and kids go to bed.
Anyway, thanks for a great forum for those of us with the sickness, and for providing me a place to share along the way. Cheers!
