Just wanted everyone to know that Jay Lynch passed today from cancer. He was one of the pillars of early GPK. He will be missed.

anyone know when the underground banner will be changed to honour Jay Lynch? That's a question for Cory since it's his site and he will make that decision..... if he wants to change the standard forum theme.

That's a question for Cory since it's his site and he will make that decision..... if he wants to change the standard forum theme. The current forum banner is Hollow Wayne, a Jay Lynch concept painted by Luis Diaz. Like I've said in other places he was a huge part of GPK History and the ANS. He gave me the address to send my work to when I asked him for some advice. So approachable. I met him later on in Miami for something or another when he was in town. We chatted online and talked on the phone a few times, but they were long conversations and always full of humor even though he was mostly serious about it all. Once he was living with his wife (I'm sure his last) and he told me she had 25+ cats. He just bought this house in the cheapest place on Earth and after they split up and the cats were gone they destroyed the house. He said it took a long time to clean up after it. I lived with 3 cats and they pissed on everything. I can't imagine that many in one place. He was bummed by the way Topps had treated him at the time. Not sure what happened afterward, but his work was always funny and had that unique look. I painted some of his concepts when I was working on the ANS series. I was lucky to be given Hollow Wayne and just painted it. I always loved horror stuff so I felt this was up my alley. One of the best ones I ended up doing. Damn you, cancer. Damn you to hell.

And Skip Williamson, Jay's best bud and fellow cartoonist (during the golden age of underground comix and then throughout life) died yesterday. Skip always asserted that he was the real Hippie Skippy and that the idea was based on him. That's plausible considering he was Jay Lynch's best pal, and fellow comic artist and friend with Art Spiegelman, John Pound, Tom Bunk, Justin Green, and many others that worked on GPK but came up in the Underground Comix era.

I know you were in contact with these guys, Jason...Really sorry to hear about their passing.
