for conformity issues... do you, the community, feel that the electric blue rare, should be officially renamed to the sometimes referred to NEON BLUE to avoid confusion with new collectors going forward?
....post why or why not also to get some thought on this from other collectors.

i vote yes. i always felt it should be called neon blue, to go along with neon red, neon yellow, and neon green.... because of how translucent all the neon colors are, electric blue included. (side note: i feel magenta should also be neon purple as mentioned by rusvan in other posts i've seen him make)

To an extent I agree. I feel like that is what the color's established name is, and along with Magenta and Salmon is the name by which the color is known. Electric Blue can be considered it's common name....almost like plants. Plants have a common name and a scientific name. If you wanted to be proper / scientific about it you would just insert neon in front of every rubbery rare you were referring to. Besides Electric Blue is not really that neon . It gets its name from the effect of shining a light through the figure. Kind of disappointing in terms of what they could have done with the color. Neon Red - Toatally Pops Pack Fresh Neon Yellow- You almost need sunglasses Neon Blue - ummmm not so much As a rule new collectors should memorize the writings of the RusVan on the subject of cheap toys so that they can be as educated as possible before venturing into the wilds. Cheap Toy collecting: You have been warned - enter at your own risk.

As a long time watcher of the cheap toy habit but not collector, I think the idea to make the names consistent would be hugely helpful. I defer to your opinion and voted neon blue, which makes sense since as you stated it would be in line with the other colour names.

So then it has alway been, like Electric Blue. technically... electric blue was originally called neon blue, then renamed electric blue. quote from one of rus's threads..... "...Neon Blue (named in 07, but renamed in 08 to Electric Blue by Soupie). Yes, Electric Blue is the preferred name of Neon Blue, but only because most people don't look at Neon Blue Cheap toys and think it looks neon. If you back-light a Electric Blue it looks obviously like the classic neon blue pigment (diluted in rubber). For inventorying purposes its nice to have, sometimes, continuity with the names and categories.. So, basically, don't hesitate to interchange "Magenta" and "Neon Purple," when to referring to these rare Cheapies! Just a thought!"

So if I cast the tie breaking vote... I could vote electric blue again haha? I don’t remember renaming it. I only vaguely remember when it was discovered. Sigh. Those were the days. We haggled over $15 being too much for Neon Reds.

I actually think it should be named rubbery blue, along with all the other rubbery figures. When I discovered the electric blue, the first thing I noticed was their rubbery feel.
You have to understand that we didn’t realize there were rubbery peaches, rubbery greens, etc. I recall asking an old collector, a real cool guy, an old member here, if the oranges were rubbery. Or something like that.
We then realized there was several colors that were rubbery. The neon red and neon yellow were the only ones known. They were rubbery of course but what stood out about them was their translucent color, hence the neon.
The peach, green, orange, and blue aren’t neon at all. They are all rubbery though, which is why I went with that naming convention on my blog. So if I really had a vote, rubbery blue would be it.
