I wish series one would be released on glossy stock . the card stock is pretty rough . my only complaint . My art sets are small print runs so I haven't found an alternative to the paper stock. Only way for me to print them on the more standard paper stock would be to make a huge set which would cost a lot upfront. If and when Series 2 is complete I may look into doing that for Series 3, but like I've mentioned I don't get an overwhelming amount of people interested enough. Too many people rather buy hastily done art between name brand design.

Wow!! What a post by Diaz. I LOVED IT.
I have been saying this now about a year after I joined the boards, and actually started doing something about it. I cut down my GPK purchasing ALOT. Not completely but a good bit. I outright REFUSE to give Topps exuberant amounts of money just to try and complete a set, even if its just a base set with all the bonuses. In order for me to get all bonuses I have to spend a minimum of about 450-500 just to get a case to get most of those bonuses, Leaving me with a zillion extra sets that I don't need. I made decision to buy only 1 hobby box which guarantees me the complete base set, with a chance to get a couple goodies. If I don't get those goodies, than so be it. I am no longer buying the collectors box that they came out with. Just another way for them to rake in more money for stickers. Yes I am one of those guys that buys GPK for the brand name. But I am no longer the guy that is willing to spend hundreds, or thousands just to get every rainbow and other crap they are putting out, just so they can make extra cash. They know their bottom line is money. If they want to make more money, simply add another color to the rainbow, and they know the die hard collector will buy more because they have to have it. Plus it will end the debacle of cards never being seen, such as the one card I need that should be easy to find to complete my chrome rainbow. The elusive R12B Black Refractor. 99 of these cards are supposed to exist, yet only one has ever been found. Yet I have the one card in that rainbow that is technically the hardest to get, The superfractor...Yes its cool to be able to get a plate that made the card, but that just adds to the people trying to buy to get one of each thing.
I have no intention of buying any of Diaz's sets simply because Im not into collecting that much. I just like the GPK brand name. But I am doing almost what he says, although I am still buying GPK, I only buy one hobby box to get the complete base set. Screw spending zillions of bucks to get every bonus card, and screw the hobby dealer that cracks open packs just to get those special cards and plates and what not. The fact of the matter is that if they get first dibs on all boxes, the hobbiest stands no real chance of getting great bonuses because the Hobby Store opens the packs first. It takes the fun out of having to buy from them, just to get something I should be able to get in any case. According to topps, I guess im lucky that I had an GPK artist draw me a card on a GPK sketch blank, so I had something nice to add to my superfractor incomplete rainbow since I can't get the one card I need to complete it.
I appreciate Diaz's post, since it was honest, and it tells the hobbiest what they really need to do, in order to keep TOPPS in line with how they do business, down to quality control of products. If people keep buying garbage, they apparently just ignore complaints because their sales still show that complaining and TOPPS not fixing anything still will show them high sales. As Diaz says, stop buying all TOPPS, or as I say, Limit yourself greatly. Part of the Hobby is keeping TOPPS honest.

Topps and Diaz have finally settled....
My two cents:
Topps F*CKED Diaz. The settlement (May 23, 2019) is bullsh*t. Diaz's creations had no impact on Topps revenue.
Diaz's sets rock. I've purchased hundreds of dollars in cards from him and would buy more. His art is outstanding.
Another member mentioned Pingitore; I love "Horrorible Kids." I, again, spent hundreds of dollars purchasing multiple boxes of "Horrorible Kids." I then discover Topps is releasing "Oh, The Horror-ible" WTF?!?! Coincidence? I don't know.
What I do know, both "Horrorible Kids" and "Oh, The Horror-ible" are compliments to each other. I will purchase additional releases related to both Pingitore's creations, and the Topps' release.
Topps GPK, fan sets, and artist releases are all a part of the Garbage Pail Kids experience. We grew up with GPK. We cherish the gross little b*stards.
I for one, will continue to collect all GPK cards, official and unofficial, as long as the over all experience brings me joy.

Mark's Horrorible Kids was released prior to GPK Oh the Horrorible ... even the same spelling. So whats the deal? It would appear that Topps took his idea? Maybe in exchange for allowing him to continue selling his card line? I've always been kind of surprised there haven't been any legal issues with that. Someone has to know more about this ...

Oh boy, I got in a lot of trouble last year for ignorantly suggesting Topps ripped off Mark! David Gross explained to me that he had been urging Topps for years to do a horror set, so no one took anyone's idea - it was just a coincidence.

Sorry but it's a valid observation and honest question! Same spelling too? I don't believe in coincidence.

Sorry but it's a valid observation and honest question! Same spelling too? I don't believe in coincidence. It wasn't just about the names of the sets. "Horrorible" is used in both, and I'll admit at first glance that is suspicious. But I went further and alleged that Topps was ripping off Mark's concepts as well. I was doing it in the spirit of "f**k Topps", but it was an ignorant thing to do. I didn't stop to think that what I really was doing was accusing the artists of ripping off Mark. It wasn't my intent, but it is what I did. I ended up getting smacked for it, which I deserved.

I just wondered, and still think, there's got to be more to that story. Why are others involved in law suits and he's not? Time will tell I guess. I'm neutral with the "f**k topps" politics lol I dont really want to get involved in that discussion!

Yeah, I totally understand. To be honest, I'm not the most "foaming at the mouth" hater of Topps either. I got a little carried away in joining in on the fun of bashing Topps because of a few gripes I have (gripes I need to get over, honestly). But I actually did like the "Oh the Horrorible" release. I think it's a good horror parody set. I don't collect the new GPK releases, but I don't hate that particular one. But I'm not sure about why some people are involved in lawsuits and others aren't. I can only guess that Topps was trying to make an example of Luis Diaz, but I am not familiar with the inside workings of what went on, or what might happen down the road.
