Here's some fan commissioned psychedelic art by John Pound... cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6613726242Even though this was done in 1975, if you stare long enough you can see a GPK. Seriously. There are the eyes, the nose, the mouth, the hand w/ten fingers...

I e-mailed John Pound about a couple of pieces that wasn't on his site. He said he hadn't got around to scanning and pricing them yet. He said he would let me know once he did. Its been a month and I haven't heard anything. What should I do?

That's a tough call...cuz you don't wanna come across as pushy. I don't think it would be out of line to send him another email and state you're just following up to see if there were any updates. He'll know you're just an anxious fan, and I can't see any harm coming out of it. I say drop him a line!!

I just did and hope he doesn't get mad. I'm kind of interested in another piece too but don't want to precede with it until I see what his looks like. I would like to have at least one John Pound piece but can't get myself into a bind by doing a payment plan with two different artists at the same time.

The only thing I gots to say is thank the lord for payment plans. :lol1: I've decided to buy the Spider Manny Original pencil art. I'm posting the pic of the color rough too in case anybody was interested in it. I know $325 is high but Spider Manny is my fav card so I was willing to pay the extra. Do you guys think I made a good decision or have I completely lost my mind? :mischief: www.poundart.com/gpk/roughs/temp2006_07_07.html

Do you guys think I made a good decision or have I completely lost my mind? www.poundart.com/gpk/roughs/temp2006_07_07.html $325 for a Tight Pencil? Wow. You can get a tight pencil AND a color rough for the same price from Luis. I think that price is too high and I think the color rough price of $550 is too high too. It should be $200 for the pencil and $450 for the color rough in my opinion. But if you want a Pound you gotta pay, still I only paid $350 for the OS16 Slammed Sloan. I guess he feels Spider Manny is extremely high quality or something. Oh well, at least you'll feel better knowing it's the pencil from your favorite GPK.

Don't think I didn't take that into consideration when it comes to Luis. His is A LOT cheaper. I had to get something from Pound though and its my fav. If I would have took the one for $550 you guys should just shoot me dead. I wonder if other ones he hasn't listed from ANS2-ANS5 will be in this price range?

I agree with the prices being too high but like you said you have to pay more when it comes to Pound. I've noticed some of his color roughs also for $325 and there is just no comparison and they are inferior to the Spider Manny pencil art. Its much better!! That makes me feel a little better. :mischief:

I don't think you are crazy for paying that price, it is what it is. I just think the pricing is a little above market. Actually I think the color rough is the better bargain of the two and is much more "framable". That pencil art is on tracing paper so it's really really thin. You're going to need some kind of white backing if you ever frame it. Thanks for posting up the pics of both pieces of art. I always wanted to see what they looked like.

It might have been the better deal but I preferred the pencil art to the color rough. There is just no way I'd spend $550 for it. :luis: I'll just admire yours from afar. :lol1: Don't think I didn't take that into consideration when it comes to Luis. His is A LOT cheaper. Once you have the pencil you can make copies and do all the color roughs you want. Hmm, there might be something to this.

Yeah, sometimes you gotta splurge. Just think the price of the final art went for $2285. :luis: I figured those would be higher and if you think about it Pound would be silly to sell them for cheaper. That parody is based on one of the most popular superheroes of all time. That is the best card he has ever did in my opinion too. :happysmoke: I was hoping to get it for $225-$250 but oh well. An extra $75-$100 isn't really that big of a deal.

I agree with Cory that it's a little high, but in the end - you'll be the ONLY one who has it...so that extra $100 won't mean that much then. I can't say I agree that this is his best card ever though...now you just talkin' crazy!! In the end - buy it and be proud...it's a cooooooool piece of art!!

If you guys could choose two pieces of John Pound's original art to own which ones would they be? Mine would be Spider Manny(of course) and Cindy Lopper.

Original art? I'd take Gutsy Gabriel as well as Virus Iris. I don't think that card gets enough credit but i can't recall another GPK card that had that same colour combination. The browns and snotty greens worked well
