If anyone here is interested I put up a 41 card sketch card set of all OS1 cards on Ebay. All are hand penciled and signed. The set looks fantastic, Dave. Best of luck with the auction!

wow dave, that is simply awesome. I find it INSANELY smart of a GPK artist to go this way with sketches. Diaz has made a good bit from his parody kids and these are just as fuggn awesome. It nice seeing you frequenting the board more often too! Say, have you ever thought about colaborating with another GPK artist to make your own independent sets? Or would that be a contract/copryright breach? Anyways, can you explain to me what the blue pencil does? I don't exactly seem them on these cards but in my Doug Sledding final drawing you sent me a few years back there was lots of blue in it. I've also noticed the blue in some other sketches of yours but i don't see them in any other artists sketches. Does the blue not show up in a fax or something? Snigs....I have a Diaz pencil that has the blue in it........ Yup just looked at my concept i bought from Dave and looking back at it now i've noticed its got the blue pencil.

hmm...so far no bids. I wonder how many watchers it has. Hmm... 20 in less than two days so far. Lots of people just like the spectacle. We will see how this goes. I had a rare Pez I sold a few weeks ago that had 81 watchers at the end. Got $2,225 for it!

I'd be interested in seeing what it looked like too. I personally like the way the blue looks with the pencil sketches. Adds a sense of style even if that may not be its specific intent. I think i might start practicing with the blue pencil. Sorry if i overlooked this, but what is the name of this type of pencil?

The sketch cards are cool and I really the self portrait. With some of those Luis Diaz parody cards going into the $200+ price range a piece I'll be shocked if nobody bids and passes up on the opportunity. I wish you luck with the auction. Also, I really like the blue pencil on some of the art pieces I own. I think it makes them look even better and really neat.

The Pez was a rare Lion's Club version from around 1962. Basically Pez made a Pez specifically for the Lion's Club to give out at their convention. It was an all red or (yellow) roaring lion on a base that had the convention name and date. They made more than the Lion's Club needed so they took the extra heads and put them on basic Pez stems and sold the rest to carnivals and the shore circuit in NJ. I had a red head one on a basic stem. I was told by people when I posted it that only 5 have ever been on Ebay and maybe 10 are in people's collections. I paid...$20 for it. I had some ads for Pez and other toys and a person called telling me they had a lion headed Pez. There is a later Pez with a lion head that is fairly common and worth $40 so I naturally thought it was that one. I offered $20 and went to her house to pick it up. When I saw it I had no clue what it was but I knew it was not the $40 Pez. Found out later how rare it was and have had it in my collection for 7-8 years until I sold off all the Pez the past few months. The winner just paid and already got the Pez so I'm pretty happy right now.

My GPK don't count cuz i don't really have anything that spectacular. And the GPK items i do have that are spectacular (first autographs/ first rough drafts) aren't the most valuable items. I think my most valuable of collections would be some of my comics that i have. Got the first appearance of the alien black suit with spider man, all the Todd McFarlane Spider Man comics, i had Eerie number 2 but sold it on ebay, few Creepy's (which are supposed to be traded to Dr. Diaz) and i have Frank Frazettas first 2 mass produced prints from the 70's with certificates of authenticity. Maybe i should keep my eyes open next time i go to an antique store/trade day/ yard sale for some Pez. I had no idea they were so valuable. Then again... thats what most who don't collect GPK say about them

The OS1 sketch card set was sold offline (starting bid price). I'll be doing an OS2 set next (with printed backs of the self image which I'll also write in the character's names by hand). The person buying OS1 has first crack at it as a set but if not I'll be posting them as singles on Ebay.
For people who were interested in OS1 cards from the sets I will be OK with doing singles of these with a slight twist so the set pieces stay unique. If interested email me at:

Hey Dave, Simply place your url between an open and close IMG tag. They are above the "Add Smilies" section when posting or responding. The icon looks like a small picture frame. Cool artwork by the way... -TCT

Looks really cool Dave! Can someone post a photo of what this in reference to? Or which specific photo was GPKinized. I tried looking up DC / Vertigo comics but didn't find something simular enough. Thanks

Thanks Found this The characters are called The Endless from The Sandman series of comics. can anyone read the name of who drew that pic in the bottome right corner? the dude who drew all the final fantasy characters worked on the sandman series for a while. To me, that dude, Yoshitaka Amano is the baddest artist out there. His stuff is just insane. Anyways, i thought it woudl've been cool to have a GPK artist doing a Final Fantasy artists work.... even though this isn't a final fantasy series, but still

HOLY CRAP!!! Dave, that's bloody awesome!! I love how it's done in that classic OS GPK style, genius! I'd love to see it as a final piece!!! Thanks, I was in the mood for an OS drawing. It would not work as a final piece since its not really doing anything except being basically a portrait of the characters as GPKs. That, and the Sandman series is no longer made so it would be a bit dated.

As long as it looks great! I don't really know Sandman much at all but still really enjoy the sketch you did. Especially looking at it compared to the comic.
