Very nice work ...and a nice idea as well! Thank you. If they do well I am planning on doing full sets of ALL OS sets and maybe the ANS as well. I really like the look of having all of them together like this.

I'll check out tomorrow if its still possible to print something onto the backs since people seem to like that as well. I have a self-portrait of myself as a GPK I sent to Adam Bomb with a GPK painting he won on Ebay. That would fit nicely and I think it looks pretty cool. We'll see.

I'd alter the text to read Offical David Gross Sketch Card and swith the image in "my" hand with something else. Probably switch the brush to a pencil as well! members.aol.com/salandrei/gpkself.jpg

HOLY OS1!!! Dave, they are awesome mate!! You've done a rediculously good job here! The self portrait GPK is hilarious too, awesome stuff!! God I wish I wasnt skint other wise i'd jump this auction in a second!! My girlfriend would string me up by my nuts but damn it'd be worth it!! I might be jumping the gun a bit mate, but will we be seeing an OS2 set? Maybe an OS10 set but in the original Cabbage Patch Style as God originally intended GPKs to be?? Either way, bloody fantastic work!

Thanks for the skinny on Skinny. I figure the set is up for all to see for a week. If someone wants to buy it and break it up into pieces the price is what it is. Seems kind of dumb though. I don't plan to make another full set of these in this form but I will do some individual cards of the same characters (on a new sketch card format). I'd like to keep the set unique.

how long did that take? ? Long time! I probably shouldn't even call them sketch cards. More like tight drawing cards.

That sounds pretty good. Next set I'll have a different banner to better reflect these are my own sketch cards as to not upset Topps and the backs will definately have the portrait image I posted.

I'm definitely pumped to potentially see the later series as old school style characters, do i cut a cut of the profit..ha,ha! Just kidding! Absolutely blinding work mate, keep it up!!

wow dave, that is simply awesome. I find it INSANELY smart of a GPK artist to go this way with sketches. Diaz has made a good bit from his parody kids and these are just as fuggn awesome. It nice seeing you frequenting the board more often too!
Say, have you ever thought about colaborating with another GPK artist to make your own independent sets? Or would that be a contract/copryright breach?
Anyways, can you explain to me what the blue pencil does? I don't exactly seem them on these cards but in my Doug Sledding final drawing you sent me a few years back there was lots of blue in it. I've also noticed the blue in some other sketches of yours but i don't see them in any other artists sketches. Does the blue not show up in a fax or something?

I use the blue pencil to lightly sketch out the shape, positioning, and composition of sketches. It's easy to set everything up and then go back with a regular pencil to tighten everything up. I suspect Dave does the same thing.

Snig, the blue is a Non-Photo blue pencil. It does not show in photocopies. I like to use it to start to flesh in my shapes so I make sure the figure is fitting in the space and I have the gesture down then I move onto a pencil. I use it on the roughs I do in a tighter form before penciling and with Wackys the blue is usually so tight I don't even bother with the pencil. If any of us made our own sets seperately or together and sold them as Garbage Pail Kids we would be hit with a cease and desist. Even though Luis is calling his Parody Kids he could still be sued if Topps wanted because the cards are essentially the same (sans logo). Topps sued Silly Supermarket Stickers this past year over making cards that looked style-wise exactly like Wacky Packages (quality was another thing...). They weren't called Wacky Packages but they can cause confusion in the market place. I'm sure Topps does not care about Luis's cards because he is not selling them on the mass market, advertising them in magazines that Topps advertises in but rather just selling very small print runs of single cards. Its actually, to me, GOOD advertising for Topps. Keeps people talking, excited and collecting during the downtime.

It feels like I haven't satarted anything yet when I use it so the real drawing doesn't start until the pencils and I'm confident that will be tighter because of it.

It's very helpful. It's also very good with traditional hand drawn animation, that's when I picked it up, at school.
