That's awesome luis! If i could get just as good as you just in the sketching dept i would be happy. I can't imagine how good it feels to be able to sit down and draw something as good as you see it in your mind....

Well it never really comes out as good as your mind or atleast the way you think you see it in your mind cause it's like a TV that has bad reception, but you think you see something awesome. I have a few on the way. I had to escape from my own Vault for a few days and I will be back later tonight and post some more sketches. These will be available in the GPk store we'll open up shortly. Glad you like them guys. I feel when I'm not feeling the GPk groove I just draw a few of the cool looking ones from old and new and "Bam!" I'm back into it.
Biscuits.

Ones I did this morning while doing my laundry. I love Tom Bunk's Andrew Spew, but I thought it didn't look like a GPK so I gave it a try.

If Andrew Spew looked like that it would be worthy of being a great error card instead of an annoying one, lol. That Live Mike rules. The others are sweet too. I love seeing GPK from different perspectives.

Those replicas are sweet. Do you normally view the card as you redraw them, or do you just do it from your head?

No I look at them. I can draw a generic GPK from my head, but old school ones I like to look at the originals. They tend to have little differences in each. Live Mike is very different from the GPK even from back then cause of his voltage thing.

Awwww man, Luis. Those are totally awesome looking. Such a killer job... If I get that nice job, I'm hiring you to cook up some of my GPK concoctions.

Hi Luis, Thanks for posting up samples of your artwork. The pencil sketches of the different characters are perfect. The problem with the original Andrew Spew character Tom Bunk did was that he is too tall/big (like a Garbage Pail Teen instead of a Garbage Pail Kid)... kind of straying from the look of the rest of the GPK characters. The psychiatrist watercolor was pretty cool (complete with the Luis Diaz degree, LD Monster, GPK stickers, and spray bottle)... is that Waldo from Where's Waldo jumping off the building outside of the window? I like seeing the different GPK characters interacting... I guess that is why the comic backs (the original series ones mostly) are probably my favorite type of GPK back. With so many GPK artists involved with comic books, I'm surprised there isn't a GPK comic book... something like that could create an entirely new fan base. Wayne I agree! I think it's time for GPK to try a different market like the olden days when there was a ton of stuff to get. I wouldn't mind having an ANS5 lunchbox! :sniglet:

I tried getting something happening with a GPk comic book since Topps occasionally is involved with comic books or had been. I asked my LO-FI magazine buddies to ask Topps if they could make their own GPK comic book to promote each other, but I don't know if they even spoke. I'd be down for it, but it would defintely be lots of work if it would be a regualr sized book. If it was bbroken down into 2 or 3 artist it would be a lot better. Comic books are another avenue to go with GPK's , but it seems the market is not what it once was. Sad, but kids aren't exposed to American comic books, but there is a huge manga section in Barnes & Noble. Anyways see if other artist would be interested in it. Either way I'm doing my own books. LD Monster will always have the old school GPK lovve as well as the Tom and Jerry style with a new twist to it. Hopefully it c an happen very soon.

Wot GPK cards are those on the back of the psychiatrists clipboard. The one on the top right looks like Kim Kong, but i'm probably wrong.

Your right Snig.
The comic book would really depend on how many fans would buy one. Comic books are not in a happy state these days and most comic books are $2.99 and for some reason fans think it's too much when a small bag of popcorn in the movies can go for $4. A comic book has almost 200 panels of art done by hand and colored by someone else and inked by someone else do it's an incredible amount of work for such a small cost. That's the biggest issue and after all that I would ask will it be a good enough book that it can spawn another one. It's tough. Comic books aren't a massly appreciated medium, but a very limited amount of fans buy them though the general masses love the movies and merchandise that come from it. I can ask around Topps and see what they say. I would like a trade paperback instead with a hole mess of artists. Another thing that would be great is an Art of Topps book from years passed up until now.

I spoke with Jeff Zapata, and everything between us is now ok. He mentioned talking with John Pound about doing a GPK comic book, so at least all three of you want to do a GPK comic book... I'm sure Jay Lynch and some other artists would be interested, also. It sounded like the guy you have to talk about this idea with to see what to do next is Ira Friedman. Wayne That's good that you guys were able to bury the hatchet.

All in time for Valentine....j/K Glad everything is straight. Well I would be up for it, but if it has already been talked about well it's up to them. I really have a very tiny voice with all those matters and I am working on the LD Monster thing, but if they would decide that I would definitely be interested.
