I doubt she'll be naked so it's fine to post it. Just got back from the shoot and yes she was naked ;D and the best thing was I was the only straight guy in the building The guy did take some really nice PG photos as well though so I will share them when I get them in about 4 days for sure.

Your stuff is great, Mike. Thoroughly impressed! Thanks Zoop I try my best. I wasn't gonna post any of my bad pics but I cant wait for the pro photographer so in the meantime these are the best I can do. I will put up the pro ones up once I get them done, I know this is an overused saying but my pics don't do this justice the stones look allot closer in person and this also looks a little like you are looking at it through a peep hole. And the back. The final is just amazing. Great job!!! I can't even begin to imagine how much skill it takes to make something like that from scratch. I bet it will look even better in between some boobs. I hope you keep posting other projects because it's really fun watching these pieces realize.

Well I got a couple of pics from the shoot back, these haven't been played with on Photoshop yet & there are about 80 more to go through but I thought I would share these. My Skull pendant, The finished price on this worked out to be about $14k and a pendant that is a map of NZ this was made for a customer it is 18ct and has Green Garnets in the land and then it is surrounded by Sapphires as the water, This was many thousands also. I know these dont show the jewelry off to its best but I am going to get close up shots done soon. Hope you enjoy ;D I DID.

Progress on my little Savage toy. I had him cast, the first pic on the left shows how it looks when I get it back from casting. The thing on the bottom of his shoes is called a sprew, that is how the metal gets into the cast. It also comes back with a horrible orange peal skin that I have to file and polish off. The right hand pick is what it looks like after an hour of work, its not finished yet though as I have to solder on his chain & pendant and then it will have a final polish to make it look like a million bucks. And yes I know I have small girlie fingers, but they help me make small jewelry. ;D

That looks awesome man!! Is the skin there caused by sand? I'm guessing that you use the method where you put the wax into sand, then pour the liquid metal in, which melts the wax, but keeps to the same form? Or am I totally off-base?

Yep your correct, only its a fine plaster not sand. That and I think oxides form on the outside of the metal as it's being cast.

Probably a dumb question, but what metal is it cast in? I guess gold... He looks very yellow before he was polished up, and now looks a lot paler. If gold what carat?

Hey Rob, Its the same metal just different lighting. This piece is in silver, It is the fist piece we have ever made in silver as we normally do gold and platinum, But he just didn't have the scriller or cheddar or whatever the kids are saying nowadays. The piece is going well almost finished the metal work then the stones just need to be fitted.

It's weird - the piece almost looks like it's made of plastic or wood or something - must be the light or something! Do you have any close-up detail shots?
Also - how did you do the bigger pieces? Did you carve them out of wax & cast them as well, or use a different method?
Either way - the piece is turning out super sweet!!

Thanks Barry. the pendant at the moment weighs 212 grams, thats pretty heavy for a pendant, I think it is my muscular fingers lifting the piece so effortlessly that makes it look light. The pendant does look weird at the moment cause when you solder all the bits together the whole piece goes a horrible black color just like any other metal when it gets hot, to get the firestain off you have to soak the piece in acid to take the surface off the entire piece, this leaves it with a frosty type surface. The main body off it behind the name Savage is a hollow box with a back soldered on to make it look nice, this was wax carved, so were the palm trunks and deceptacon logo. The Palm leafs, Savage name and the pacific flowers were all cut out off a plate of metal. Close Up. And a RDG logo (our company) graffiti style on the back.

looks great. Got any buyers on hold yet? ;D Thanks Cory, I haven't offered it for sale yet, I entered in in our local New Zealand jewelry awards show coming up in a week, all the works from around NZ were judged and I came out with one of the four finalists spots. I find out on 16th of this month if I won the overall award or not, Then after thats over I can try to sell it ( I am open to part trade for GPK art ;D )

Thanks B, fingers crossed on the awards, I had to change a little from the concept art to make the piece hang better, plus making the wings more up and down gave me a nice place for the chain to go through.

Sadly no I always have problems in comps as I grew up in a very commercial way, I find it difficult to make the way-out things that win comps as I know they aren't durable, practacle or easy to wear. Still I guess I should be pleased to have been a finalist. What was cool was they used the pic of my pendant to promote the show, Including this huge poster on our sky tower.

Wow Mike...That is cool! I used to do alot of oversized format printing where I used to work. I can only image what that banner must look like in person. -TCT

It sucks that you didn't win, but that may be for the best, since as a professional you can tell that the winning pieces are not necessarily the "best". I think the fact that your piece was on display in such a HUGE format is an even bigger accomplishment - your piece was most likely seen by WAY more people than the winners!!
Nice work Mike!!!
