....as some of you know, my 12 yr old daughter is an avid GPK collector (besides the other stuff she collects) and she comes with me to the store 9 out of 10 times, so I must ask...
Is it ok for me to take my daughter to Target, step back, let my daughter pack search, while I watch (with an evil grin on my face)?

Its wrong no matter how you justify it. Just my opinion.....but why not leave things to chance But, aren't Minikins packs 'asking for it,' lol? Seriously, no one has yet to explain why feeling for a specific figure in a Minikin pack is morally wrong. Two people have so far said it was ok for kids to pack search, but not ok for adults. What constitutes a "kid" in this case?

Jackson, please stop necromancing old threads. Cheap Toys are dead, thought you knew. The future is sitting on the selves in the walmarts and targets around the nation. Alice Island Cheap Toy has been replaced with the awesomeness that is.... Minikin TV Stevie. Are you feeling it? The masterpiece that is "Alice Island" will never be replaced by that tiny, 2 piece molded, minikin figure. CT Alice is the Queen of GPK toys.

Also, is it ok for a young child to pack search a Minikins pack, and not an adult? I remember picking up Cheap Toy packs and fondling them to try to figure out what toy was inside (and then tossing the bags back in the box, I was turned off by how tiny and cheap and vending-like) the sculpts were. Guess, I was bad for doing that as a 12 year old?

Pack searching is traditionally a controversial topic on UG and other collecting forums, and opens interesting dialogues about the rituals and morals that go into selecting and buying items in blind packaging, etc.
Topps gave us another product that can be searched, and I argue EASILY searched for certain sculpts, if not all. Matt noticed that Jumbo Packs can even be searched for colors!!!!!!
Is this right? Is this fair??? Why?
The very first pack I saw and picked up on Target shelves had a Adam Bomb in it, and I knew it and I handed it to IvyVan to see, it was so obvious!! I bought 10 packs, out of 36, and honestly I kept that first pack to buy ONLY because I knew a Bomby was in there. Does buying a pack that I know has an Adam Bomb in it, make me an asshole?
At what point does selecting Minikins packs cross the line into "pack searching"?
If you knew how to find a Black Minikin in a Minikin pack without opening it, would you pack search??

Can you make a tiny Minikin look epic, heroic? Can you enhance how people experience GPK Minikins through photography? Got any Cheap Toys, mix them in, or add other related items!! Post your Minikins Photography here! Btw, DO NOT POST RANDOM COMMENTS IN THIS THREAD-PHOTOS ONLY! Thanks! Here, I'll start us off....

I recently found my collection of OS GPK's (4-15) a few months ago at my mother's house. I know I had a handful of series 1 GPK cards, as well as my Cheap Toys too - but I couldn't locate them. It's one of those things, I never remember throwing them out - but at the same time, I obviously walked away from them and my GPK's when I was ~20. I am floored by how collectable, and actually how rare this #2 series is. I grew up in Calgary, AB - Canada and must have purchased boxes of these things! There was a corner store I would visit, and pester my mother to stop at all the time - because I knew they carried them. I know I didn't have a complete collection - I vaguely recall really wanting Ali Gator really badly, which my friend pulled and didn't even collect them. I recall having lots of doubles of Alice Island. I had some of doubles of others - but I do not recall any blue characters. Now that I have ordered a complete set of painted MiniKins off of Ebay - I am motivated to find these! Hopefully they are collecting 20+yrs of dust @ my mother's place somewhere. Yellow Alice by chance? I want it if you can find it.

I think Bunk can still draw, his color choices and graphic style, especially recently, leave much to be desired.

I'll check with my business partner GPK MONSTER, he mentioned going to this Chicago con several years ago, and he and some other collectors meeting in Atlanta and taking his Hummer to Chicago. Jason and Clint went to this same Con a while back, that's where Clint scored all those Cheap Toys!

Ask me in February. As of today, I'm 30% about going. Might have to take my family with me, we'll see. If I can talk them into it then I'll be 100%. I won't ask until at least Thanksgiving break, I'll start planting seeds, dropping hints. I wish my life was so stable as to plan this far ahead. Good news, is KarVan asked me last Spring why I wasn't going to Orlando. (Thanks honey, for the doorway) ..And no matter what, it will be a road trip. The only way I'm getting on another plane is if I'm going abroad.

Nice. I figured they would be a softer material than any of the original Cheap Toys plastics, but I was mainly just hoping they would not be ultra squishy like Trash Pack. From how you guys are describing them, I think I am going to be a happy camper. Me too! The 1986 Neons are rubbery, so no major change!

Your photography is inspiring me to do the same. The green oozes gpk retro slime. I dig the green the most too. Love this thread, this is what collecting is all about. Nice to see some true collectors left on this site. Looking forward to the next photo ed! It is, a Cheap Toy never looks better than when photographed, especially at (plastic or rubber) eye level.
