Only further confirmation that 2020 was a portal into some sort of parallel bizzaro universe. Why the hell isn't Topps cashing in on this with an online exclusive set? They can call it "GPK The Year 2020: When People Pay Big Money For Toilet Paper, Fresh Air, and Digital Images".

First time poster here, newer and current 'physical card' GPK buyer.
Digital GPK, looking at it from afar...it's like being able to go back in time to 1985 and hand pick your card packs. May 12th 2020 from 11:45am ti'l about 28 hours later was the chance to get the chance, to pickup GPK Series 1 digital cards.
Without getting into the nuts and bolts of Blockchain and yes, these cards are digital, cannot be peeled and don't have gum but they are here to stay.
I get why some would think to have special online only versions, maybe they will, there's only time now. More Series to come, but I've been waiting for this day, and getting a 1 of 73 digital sketch card of Blasted Billy and 1 of 36 of Art Apart was an awesome feeling because there were 110,000 digital GPK Series 1 cards. It's also a cool feeling to have unopened packs.
Hey, remember VHS tapes, even DVD's...how to you watch your media now? It's the same with these and it scales with some generations.
Happy to trade GPK online, look me up.

Hell, I won't even pay for porn pictures, why would I pay for GPK pictures. I get the whole blockchain thing, or maybe I don't, but I will stick with the jpegs that don't cost anything.

"Here to stay" for a brand-new *cough* paid *cough* digital platform is a bit optimistic. Digital images of every GPK have existed - in an unlimited form - for over a decade now - why pay? The draw for me was always the art on the cards, which I can look at any time I want. A new platform or some spot animation can't do anything to increase my enjoyment of the art.

I get it. I love the hobby of the physical GPK cards, it'll never die with me either.
Digital images of course look the same, but collectors look for the things that make things unique, and the blockchain simply makes these digital images unique and curated moving forward...I still don't fully wrap my head around it either for what it's worth but it's a cheap thrill, small risk and fun! Having a GPK community or microcosm going on a tab on your computer is fun since most people are on their computers at work, or your phone. It's become more about trading cards instantly within these past few days. To sell out so quickly should also be noted!
I love the "I'm too old for this hobby now" comment, because I felt the same way. So, I spent about $100 CND and it's been kick-ass. GPK is the first for this brand new optimistic platform, and you can't stop innovation. So why not throw down on some Series 1, I was thinking. Will I be buying online TOPPS Disney and Star Wars cards when they come on the Blockchain, nope! I save that money for the weekly GPK cards (the physical one's).

So you get a rare image that is 1 of 50. What can you do with it? Can you sell it or trade it? Is there a community of people that are trading doubles and stuff? Can you list it on ebay, sell it for real money and then just transfer it via blockchain?

Seems that would be the equivalent of collecting knock-offs. It's great there's a Google Drive of the photo's so everyone can have a peek. Or you could get a free GPK Blockchain login and see the natural 3D state, which is way cooler and the community they live in. Here's the link to the cards on the Blockchain, might not even need a login to view... toppsgpk.io/catalogI don't understand why you'd want a PDF of the cards as a collector though, for free fun, heck yeah. But you couldn't trade them. No 3D Prizm effects. No Sketch Card art. No Collector cards animations. No ability for collectibility and extremely analog in comparison. No online community. Nor are they authentic or vetted. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm coming to the defense of GPK on the Blockchain, but if you feel that these images that have been available online for over a decade are the same thing, then why don't you start to photocopy your cards on sticky paper and make your 8A Adam Bomb since authenticity means nothing to what I thought were true GPK fans on here. The same reason as to why you won't do that, is the same reason I won't do that.

The ledger shows all trades, transfers, etc. Here is an interesting thing. Topps shows all the 5 cards packs as sold out, yet they maintain over half of them. wax.bloks.io/tokens/GPKFIVE-wax-packs.topps?fbclid=IwAR0ISk0jYVhXYuA65xMLvo1ltBPqKd5NU71uaC3i9ivFjIfBwlS5tAYTXTw

I didn't open 10 packs, only opened 3 so far (2 Mega and 1 Standard)...why, I don't know. Maybe they'll be worth something one day. Waiting for more info and abilities to come to the Blockchain (currently you can only trade not sell yet), it's not perfect or without it's glitches. I would still suggest to use the authentic link vs. downloading the cards via Google Drive, unless you're making your own. toppsgpk.io/catalog

Jeff, Serious question because maybe I just don't understand. But is it really "sold out" ? wax.bloks.io/tokens/GPKFIVE-wax-packs.topps?fbclid=IwAR0ISk0jYVhXYuA65xMLvo1ltBPqKd5NU71uaC3i9ivFjIfBwlS5tAYTXTw That link shows that topps still owns half the 5 card packs. Maybe I'm reading it wrong? Thanks for any info.

I'm not criticizing anyone who buys these. Spend your money how you wish. I think it's great that GPK is still alive and well, and the GPK community is expanding. I guess I'm the old guy with the flip phone yelling 'get off my lawn'.

I guess we will see if they announce "more packs available for purchase".

Well it looks like It’s been decided. It’s over guys let’s grab all are shiz and burn it Disco Demolition style! Physical is dead! Long live digital! Next GPKUG Con I expect semi trucks loaded with shiz to do this! No touching no instant callback when holding an OS card to the taste and smell of the gum. The smile you get from the memories of the hunt of rebuilding your collection as an adult showing your kids. Now Gordon Fuggin Gecko runs the hobby. The thing that brought me back was the look on my 3 year olds face when every time I showed him the proofs then the finals. I get it digital is here but when you think about what has gone digital Most if not all still deliver to the same senses they’ve always use too. Cards have always been sight and tactile you’ve now removed tactile and sight doesn’t translate to feel. Your selling fake nostalgia at this point. If someone wants the feel of pack ripping OS cards start hunting Chrome or Flashback if the price of the original sets are off putting. If people want rare there are plenty of rare items in our hobby that are actually rare not forced rarity to entice people to over purchase for a slight chance of getting something. I look at ebay right now and see digital cards at what could be fair pricing for some time. Then I see the people who I would put in the Holy Shi**er thread if I still did it. When I see a digital image of a 35 year old card selling for more than some of the art sitting on ebay right now from some incredible artists Like David, Mark, Robert and Layron honestly it makes me sick. People would rather buy air than something created from the blood sweat and tears of some of the finest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I hope for the sake of the people diving head first into this they get what they wanted out of it. But real money for crypto GPK seems off. What happens if either company implodes? You got NOTHING. In the world of physical if Topps goes away you still have SOMETHING. Like Steve said spend your money how you see fit and I know there are many of us who would rather have people do this then stay on our “lawn”. But it just reeks of all the other bubbles in the hobby industry that happened. Rex I’m sure your a great guy and your intentions are good trying to turn us senior citizens into hip cats but I have one question for you... DO YOU SSSSSSMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL...What the Underground is cooking?

Always super cool when the only person saying they like a product shows up out of nowhere to say so. Not shady at all! Like, really, is the list of product specs* you mention really what you like about the product?
"Not authentic or vetted" - seriously? They're copies of the digital cards. Every single collector can check them against other images. That's got to be the most bulls**t way I've ever seen someone shill for a product in a fan forum. Go away. You're very transparent.
*who talks that way outside of radio ads???

Maybe I'm reading it wrong? Thanks for any info. Sorry, just saw your post. My understanding is the packs assigned to the gpk.topps account are the opened ones. Each pack is a token. It’s assigned to the owner until it’s opened. When it’s opened the token moves to the gpk.topps account, and the 5 card assets are assigned to the user. You’ll notice that number keeps growing as packs are opened. If you add up all the opened packs, with the unopened ones assigned to each user you get 10,000 for standard and 2000 for megas.
