Is anyone pre-ordering the Atari VCS? They just opened pre-orders today. I'm still on the fence about it. I grew up with the Atari 2600 and it was my first video game console. I still love it and play it to this day. There's just something off about this new console. Obviously it's not a retro console but I'm just confused as to what Atari wants to do or accomplish with it. I want Atari to succeed but all they're selling is a Linux computer in a retro designed case. I kind of want it but don't want it at the same time. I want to support Atari but I don't want to waste my money if this turns out to be a flop. Have any of you ordered it? What do you think? Here's the Indiegogo link if anyone's interested. Atari VCS Indiegogo LinkIt's $200 (if you order now) and it has only 100 games on it. And that price doesn't even include a contoller. I already have a desktop and a tablet; I don't need another computer. The Staples near my job has an Atari console with 30 games for only $15 on clearance. I'd rather have that one.

I wish Atari would hire some of the original game programmers and had them make some new retro style games similar to what they made back in the day. Howard Scott Warshaw can remake ET without a crazy deadline and then I could actually enjoy it lol. Maybe a Yars Revenge 2. There's so many awesome sequels they could make and new games. That would get me to buy one of these.

How big is the file size of an Atari game? A few kilobites? They could fit every game they ever made on the VCS, and for $200 they damn well should have.

They should put all the original games on it but of course they're going to try and charge people for them. If they had all the games on it I might consider it. I think they're making something like a hundred games available. Of the 2600 games and Atari arcade games. Not sure if they're free though.

Atari VCS Indiegogo LinkDon't see Activision on board. No River Raid or Pitfall. Count me out. Besides them graphics are shi**ty and most of the games suck. It was all I had at the time but even then there was better (Intelivosion and Colleco or the Amiga). So nope. Fond memories but that's it. When's that new Kingdom Rush coming out?

I’m not interested in another Atari. I never really liked the old Ataris. I did really start liking games until they got better around the NES years.

Atari 2600 games definitely don't hold up. They do hold a very special place in my childhood though. Before Nintendo took over for the better part of my video game playing days, there was Atari. As crappy as they were it was magical being able to play video games on my tv for the first time. I enjoyed them probably because I was too young to know any better lol. As far as this new console goes, I'm not really interested. Atari for me is just great childhood memories and a fun nostalgia trip when I play the original games.

If they're going to put so much effort into reviving the Atari brand, they should have included slots on the console for physical cartridges from all of Atari's eras including 2600, 5200, 7800, Jaguar, and Lynx. There's a vibrant second-hand collectors market for those games and being able to play them all from one modern console would have been a dream come true.
