Going to Pennsylvania to visit my parents in a couple weeks. Hopefully I can find some old childhood photos with GPK.

If you know what I look like as a kid, one of you might build a time machine and go find me and steal my GPK. I can't take that risk.

But what if current-day you also sends someone back in time to protect your GPKs?

I don't want to look for any of the old photos of me as a kid with my GPKs. Because I have all of these wonderful memories of collecting GPKs, but what if when I look at the photos it turns out I was wrong and they weren't GPKs at all, but rather something terrible like severed mouse heads? What then?

Then I noticed an ALF doll in the background and remembered those must have been ALF packs!

So I played with my mouse head collection instead. Yes mother. I am a good boy mother.

I couldn't find any old photos of me with my GPK but I found something better. I found some of my old GPK from my childhood. I haven't seen these in decades. On one of the backs I put A.J. as the class bully. I barely remember who that was but I'll take my younger self's word for it.

I didn't get GPK until OS3 came out. I had no OS1 and like 3 OS2 cards I got from trading.

Yeah I vividly remember going down to the convenience store, walking up to the counter, and seeing those pink OS 1 packs for the first time. I had to have them. I brought them to school and my friends and I were hooked. We were trading them every day. I remember having a stack about a foot high of just OS1 cards.

I remember being disappointed at first, but then all the kids who only had OS1 and OS2 wanted OS3 cards so I traded my doubles for those to the older kids on the school bus, along with baseball cards which i didn’t collect. In 2012 when I started collecting GPK again I had about 3 OS1 and maybe 20 OS2 in my collection.

I found about 700 that were mine from childhood, but they weren't in great condition so I sold them and bought better ones.

My OS1 and OS2 were in rough shape so I sold those, and upgraded to mint (okay, near mint for OS1). I also had OS3-11 complete which were in much better shape so I kept those. A small part of me wishes I kept my OS1. I didn't realize until becoming an adult collector how rare those were. Growing up in NY, we were lucky enough to all get series 1. Now, hearing some of your stories, makes me wish I kept my originals from 85.

Had cards from every series too, some complete others just a couple. It was fun filling those holes and so much easier with the inter web!

I will have to hold onto that.

Yeah, maybe I should have kept mine. I could have put them in an 800-count box and kept them separate from my NM/MT collection. But when I first got back into collecting last summer, I wasn't planning to go apeshit like I have ended up doing. I was planning only to complete a NM/MT collection of OS2-9 sets. I wasn't even planning to buy OS1. I wanted to max out at no more than $200 in spending. So I sold my old ones. Flash forward to today, and I've spent *thousands* on sets, boxes, posters, proofs, original art, etc. And now I'm thinking it would have been nice to hold onto those original 700 cards from when I was a kid. Oh well. At least I still have my M.U.S.C.L.E. figures!

Really regret not keeping them

Soooooooooo that’s why you wanted Cory’s home address, ssn, dob, and drivers license number. It’s all coming together. Luckily I didn’t give you his ssn..
