I had a thought guys, a thought that eventually took a shape of a question that I wonder how would each of you answer... in the recent time I had some changes in my life and with each change that came it was like I got a reminder that time dosent stands still and is always going forward. when I think about the fact that I first got to know GPK some 30 years ago it's like my mind accept and dosent accept it - it's a FACT that 30 years have past since my childhood but how the f@%ck did 30 years past since my childhood?! I guess most of us here are in their 30's / late 30's or so cause what brings us all together here is that GPK thing that happend in our childhood 30 years ago. and now, as adults we live this childhood yet again with building the perfect collection comprised of what we hold dear and what we know that has value in terms of being collectors. but what about the future? what about 30 years FROM now? what about 40, 50 or 60 years? how would you look at your collections when you're 80 or 90 years old? what would be of these collections after you? would you take them with you to your grave? would leave them to your kids or someone else in a will? what or how or where do you think your collection would be in the future? what would you wish that would be with your collection once you will be gone? how would you think the next generations would look at your GPK collection in the far future? it's heavy (BTTF anyone? ) I know, but it is intresting...

I think in about 20 years we'll be at the tail end of a mass exodus. People will be selling their stuff off and head into retirement. There isn't a generation of GPK lovers after us, so the prices of everything will plummet. Only the highest tier stuff will have some value.

I agree with Cory, after our generation GPK is basically done. There may be a few spawn-of-the-die-hards that will carry on the passion, but not enough to keep the hobby alive. I've always been up and down with the hobby, I even walked away for a few years. Lately, I've been slowly cutting back my collection. My favorite thing now is looking at other people building their art collection. There are quite a few stellar GPK art collections among the UG members that have been awesome to watch grow. You can only look at the cards so many times before it becomes mundane. That's where art takes things to the next level. Looking at a piece of American history in your hands is pretty cool.

I'm a minimalist so the items I want/need are a few and I like it that way. Gpk was just a small part of my childhood, today it brings back memories of when I was still innocent to what the world is. As an adult I just started collecting and for the life of me don't remember some of the characters(believe it or not I didn't remember Nast Nick). The ones that where my favorite as a kid and never forgot where Mean Gene, Grim Jim, Joe blow and of course Adam bomb.
I am currently working on a project to house all my gpk, a poster rack with cabinet/drawers, welded all from metal. I've been going to flea markets to find the metal, gonna go steampunk!

There is no denying it. Where is the group of young garbage Pail Kids collectors , it doesn’t exist. There may be a few real collectors “the next generation “ and maybe thousands or more that have bought GPK for a laugh or curiosity. But not for passion or true interest. It’s sad to think this will fade away , I will pass my gpk onto my kids if they are interested. My 4 yr old loves her GPK 🤗 such and angle. . my oldest girls 20&18 also use to love GPK aswell. But not know more. They will pretend to let me entertain them with looking through binders, single cards and telling stories. But they are being supportive. I love my girls. 3 daughters. 😱(trouble) I’m Sure we all have seen the videos of the elementary kids looking at GPK cards for the first time and disgusted , confused or just not interested in more then 1 cool looking character or any interest at all. I’m newer to the art game and have a few MEDIOCRE pieces. And I have learned a lot from the wisdom of the OG on here. Wayco/Tommy4ya/ jimbo/ Mr. fowl raoul ( I’m sure I spelt that wrong ) TRIPPY and more that been down for a long time in the art Game That some art especially the early on Will carry on.
Also thank you STEVE for nominating me to move up in the UG with my new title. And to have everyone’s respect and trust. Not always easy to get and still need to earn and prove worthyness every day , Makes me even more proud to be a gpk collector and honored to be in this group. Maybe it’s not a big deal a title change. But it is to me. Thanks guys. You make this hobby fun and exciting and just great to be a part of
