Hey all. I recently came across a PSA 9 Soft Boiled Sam. It is a matte back, but Live Mike, which I didn't think existed. I checked with a GPK buddy, who pointed out a slight double die cut on the front. A while back I had seen some double die cut PSA 10s on eBay, and heard those are fake/bootleg. This is probably a similar situation, but what is interesting is that the PSA number is very recent. I thought someone got a bunch graded a while ago, and that was the end of the story. Does anyone know the story behind these? Are they definitely fakes, is there any proof, and could it be possible these are actual Topps cards? I own a bunch of Series 5 odd-ball cards (non die cut, no-name, black/white back, yellowish back, etc.). They are from a guy who used to live by the Topps factory and he bought these back then, as kind of "rejects". Could the Live Mike matte back puzzle be similar? If we didn't need another reason to question the premium paid for PSA cards, this is another one...

Most of the non die cut and blank backs out there (without coa) came from rejected sheets. Whoever came across them in the dumpster, or from an employee cut them down into individual cards, hence the non die cut 5th series sets floating around. I am unsure about the double die cuts, could also be saved rejects, but actual products that came from Topps.
