1) Yes. I would like to see again the arts and the concepts of Mister John POUND.
2) I would like to see the same base set with the same concept but drawn by different artists. Ex: One set made by John POUND, One set mage by Tom BUNK etc... So there would have différences in the arts. Every artits draws is own feeling.
3) The arts must be CUTE and ATTRACTIVE. The concepts must be FUNNY and UNDERSTANDABLE from the first look. For he packaging, I don't know.
4)50 cards by set with some brilliant prisms cards hidden under a normal card which it is necessary to unstick. We have to think about the back of the cards.
5)I do not care that it is official from the moment when the project is seriously made. It would be good if it was official because it would demonstrate to Topps that it is economically viable.
6) Nostalgia must be the path and not the destination.
7) I think that kickstarter or some other crowd source systeme is good Tools. The system of crowdfunding offers a security of seriousness which can reassure and atract potential buyers

1) Would you buy or support a set of cards outside of the "official" name brand stuff by former artists of GPKs?
If the set was up to the standards of OS, then I would buy a set. However, my days of buying packs are done.
2) If so what do you expect from such a series? What kind of art requirements? Other things like Bonus Cards? Sketch Cards? Signed cards?
I don't want any of the chase cards. I got burned pretty badly with Chrome series 1 and it completely turned me off to buying packs.
3) How important is the design and/or packaging? Does it have to resemble the "official" stuff?
Since I'm not interested in packs, the packaging really doesn't effect me. The design of the product, if similar to the GPK concept, should look like a Cabbage Patch Kid. The ANS kids that didn't remotely look like a CPK were terrible.
4) How many cards in a set?
The typical 40ish. I think the twins concept is pretty played out. Some of the names were a stretch.
5) Does something "not official" turn you off? What constitutes something that is official? Is it solely based on a product by a company you know?
No. In fact, something which isn't official has more of my interest these days. I don't know who approves the concepts for GPKs, but they should have a different job.
6) How much is nostalgia a part of your decision? How much of it is just name recognition and the fact that other fans are collecting the set?
Nostalgia is dead. Thank you, Topps, for destroying my briefly-renewed interest in collecting.
7) Would you be willing to fund such a set if a Kickstarter or some other crowd source system was in place?
Not at this time but perhaps in the future, depending upon the perks.

I'd support. I'd still like to see Garbage Pail Kids style characters (so the Cabbage Patch features) but the banner and name bar style isn't the be all and end all for me. Great idea!!

Big time. I like their fact that the artists would be doing their own ideas uncensored. I browsed your site and it's awesome. The twin thing is cool but i do feel it's gimmicky, ill still take the twin cards over colored borders any day. i really care about art as an artist myself, even down to the dirt stains on the sketch cards, i love every detail, they tell a story haha. I have wasted so much money at target buying packs and they don't ever give me anything special, aside from the trash boxes i bought which did give me a sketch card (are sold by a different company) theme's are a dumb idea unless it's halloween/horror imo. 40 is a good number for a set, maybe 50. packaging is nice, aesthetics do count however, it doesn't need to be super ornate or anything like that. i'd settle for white card boxes with art from you guys on them over wrappers. (though wax wrappers hit the sweet spot) I love sketch cards, so awesome. especially the panoramic ones. plates also rock but i haven't gotten one yet. official is subjective, one could say that even though garbage pail kids are still "official" they hardly resemble what we all first came to know and love about gpk. blah blah blah rant over. make more card sets and i needs me a spaghetti betti

I'm even more excited about this than when I first posted. Not to beat up the Apple Pie set anymore but it says something when each and every original concept by multiple artists (that I've seen) has been leaps and bounds better than what topps corporation has told them to re do. Let me know when the kickstarter kickstarts I'll be on it like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm.

I'm definitely down Luis! As I said before, I am an artist as well and would gladly contribute if you are in need of artists. I would also be a buyer/collector.
I don't know the GPK history, but I do find it ironic that GPK has IP issues with the fan sets made here when they had to deal with their own IP issues with Cabbage Patch Kids. The way I see it, if GPK was able to circumvent and find a way around to continue making their cards, we can do the same.
We can create a particular look for kids that are established amongst all artists that contribute and then work to maintain that consistency. I think what made the OS series GPKs wonderful was their simplicity and consistency in artwork and coloring. These days, the artist styles are so prevalent which makes them look inconsistent and many of the images are just too busy.

1. Definitely!
2) Quality artwork. Thought out humor. Minimal bonus stuff: sketches, autographs, foil cards; nothing like a character that is very rare or anything like that. I'd like for everyone to be able to collect the entire base set and have all characters and all names. But sketches and autographs are very cool bonuses and chase cards.
3) Design is very important. The cards should look very nice. They should actually look like care was put into making them. They don't necessarily have to resemble the official stuff.I would be interested in either, honestly. Packaging is not necessary if this would be a smaller scale thing, but it would be a nice addition.
4) I'd say 40 cards is ideal. Not too big, not too small.
5) It doesn't turn me off. The thing is, ALL of us loved GPK, right, the official stuff. Personally, it saddens me that the quality of a lot of the newer stuff is just lacking so much. I do wish that official GPK stuff would reach the levels of the classic series. But it just may not ever get back there. If some of the original (and newer) GPK artists create something in that vein, but with a higher quality, then why wouldn't a lot of us support it? I think the problem is just that of the nature of collections. If you ONLY buy stuff for enjoyment of art, etc., then i you like the artists involved you'll like what they come up with, official or not. But if you're a true GPK collector...well, some might not consider unofficial products for their collection. It's something to consider.
6) A lot of my love of GPK is nostalgia. But then, I STILL enjoy them for what they are. What others collect doesn't influence my collecting habits at all.
7) I'd prefer not to use Kickstarter, but I wouldn't be against it if that was the only way. I always prefer simply purchasing something once it's already manufactured, but I understand that funding isn't always available for that.

One thing.. see how OSkids had more " dolls " doing gross things rather then stupid " items " with faces drawn on to them... Its funnier to see a doll puking rather then a coke can with a face drawn onto it puking

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm resurrecting this thread and see how you guys feel these days. There are things in the works and there might be a kickstarter happening. How do you feel about that? I just created a lineup of my best concepts I've created over the years. I hope to get a lot of the work completed over the summer. Here are some newer questions. How would you like to see 3 sets? 100 cards altogether. Wax packs and boxes?A new and improved Series 1 and 2 of Parody Kids at a more affordable cost as a stretch goal?An All-New 40 card Series 3?Bonus Cards? Special Sketch Cards? And many more extra stuff...Anything else you'd like to see?Let me know what you guys think?

I would do some Art for the set! No dude, please. Since Diaz left Topps, GPK has went to s**t. This man is offering the community a brand new 40 card series (!!!!!) and making his legendary first two series more affordable (!!!!!!!!!). It's like taking the best parts of ANS 6 and multiplying it 3 or 4 times!! Just shut up and pay the man what he wants, and I mean this in the most loving and respectful way.

What you’re putting out isn’t what the GPK collector of today is looking for. Your art is detailed, clever and pops off the page. So clearly doesn’t fit with what the collector is expected, just ask topps they sold 70 cards of their last release so clearly they are in the now and the know. But man don’t worry I’m always positive so I’ll give you a bit of hope. I know a way you can get back to the pulse of the GPK collector and be on the brilliant level that topps is known for today. First, throw out all your pens, paints, brushes, all that art crap. Not necessary. Next step fire up MS paint and be sure to use your off hand for the mouse. Good now you’re almost there. So then with your dominant hand smash your off hand with a hammer. Now with your mangled off hand draw Donald trump. Boom goes the dynamite!! You’re all set! But if you're set on going down this path I'll give you my answers: 2 sets of 50 each would be old school epic! But any way its sliced would be good. Wax packs and boxes would be insane. Man just thinking about your pack and box designs. Can't wait to kick start this.

Make the bonus cards different from the card set and maybe add an sketch card or autograph card a box. I would definitely buy a box. Imo maybe start with an all new set ( For those that already have your parody sets) and like damien said keep them glossy. I wasn't too fond of the rough surfaces either. And maybe keep the final art a little bit more affordable. Good luck luis and i would definitely support a kickstarter.

All these things are good ideas and some of the things I've been thinking for some time. It's all in the works. I plan to hit a homerun with the fans from old and new. Lots of ideas and some ideas of collaboration seem plausible. I'm figuring this all out with some players right now. Another question. What would you rather see? An All-CPK parody thing like the early OS with simple backgrounds? Or a combination of OS nostalgia on some cards and others with my ANuS love. Maybe almost split down the middle? What would you be excited to see? Are you guys tired of the attempts in trying to match Pound's early style? Are they hit and miss? I think I can rock it, but I usually just do what seems to make sense for each character. They need to be unique in there own way to me, but I can figure out a way to bring it all together. At the moment I'd like to have 3 sets at 36 images (a,b,c variations) equalling 108 characters and about 70% are completely new. I'm scrapping some older characters from Parody Kids Series 1 and some from Series 2. Series 3 will be all new!! So in essence you will get so many new images with a few classic cards from my Online Sets. I wish I could just put down a magic wand to make it all happen right now, but I just need to paint away until they are all done. The line-up is pretty solid. I went through over 500 character and concept ideas I've been wanting to paint and had written over the years, but put in the back burner until now.

Combos would be amazing. You could even have the 3 different sets split up by art style. Old School (80s Pound style), Insert clever name for ANS here, and Future fast forward with the hybrid new style stuff you are tossing around.

I only like detailed backgrounds when it's specifically part of the gag. If only the kid is the gag, then i prefer a plain background. So both do work just fine for me.
And also not a fan of C variations.

Hey Luis, Tony here. Long time no speak. I'll support whatever you do. I tend to prefer old school Pound style, but not so much just the non background type. I like the Dead Ted or New Wave Dave or more recently Orange Julius, where the character is front and centre but there is something else go along. Either way I'm in. Sorry I haven't been in touch. No longer at my previous email. Good Luck.

As long as you are still planning you should add a 4th set. Take advantage of the Joementum that has gripped the UG and have an all Joe Blow set.
