And just to add, Travis got geepeekay to list the Hundreds Set on his website. It still has the original information in place. WTF? How did this get listed on GeePeeKay.com as being official? I'm confused. So anyone can print up a set, say it came from so and so company, and submit it to GeePeeKay with no questions asked? I just don't get it. Nobody knew. Matt is just a guy like us. We fell for it, why wouldn't he? I'm sure he'll move that information to his bootleg section now that he knows. BUT he also has to leave something in there for the jumbos. There actually were sets of those. Remember, Travis wasn't an untrustworthy individual. That's the reason it took so long for it to come to light. Dodger is right, the sets shouldn't be sold without permission. However, what bootleg item has ever had permission? s**t, even our own Fan Sets fall in that category. It's all about full disclosure on these bootleg items. People must know what they are buying.

Yes true, I am not faulting geepeekay for adding that information to his site, it's just a sign of how far Travis was able to run with this. I did not doubt the authenticity of the items since Travis was such a prominent and prolific writer in the community. That's why he was able to get the information on the site, also most likely due to a relationship he built over time. The fact he used those connections and "friendships" over time to further his scam makes this more painful for a lot of people I have talked to.

Update> Travis tierno was banned from other FB GPK groups Edit> Turns out there never was a rep selling these things here on GPKUG 2 years ago. Travis lied about that too. He was most likely the sole prroprieter. Note. No one person was involved in this. And it certainly wasn-t for a vendetta. Many people have put their necks on the line for a very long time to protect others. It's very hard to know the truth at all times, so people sometimes jump the gun,That is exactly why it took so long to catch Travis in the act and why others should be wary of anyone who solicits them for goods that are deemed suspect. Always make sure to follow up with questions and seek advice from trusted individuals around the greater garbage pail kids community. While there are many GPK groups out there, this one single action has helped unite many individuals who because of Travis actions in the past had built distrust in the system at large. I now personally know that numerous admins and affiliates with the Collectors Alliance (Uk, foreign, Nafta), GPK Marketplace, 80s playground, GPKUG fb group and the Garbage Pail Kids Underground forum can work together to solve problems that occur. Together we can help bridge gaps and secure trust to ensure that these kinds of situations NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! Thanks again for Cory and Steveo's leadership on this issue, Long Live GPK! For anyone who doesnt get a refund from Travis Tierno, you can file a claim to get your money back in the following manner: Please let mods on this board know if you don't receive a refund.

By the sound of it I am one of the mugs that paid a high price of $70 inc shipping to UK. Yes I'm a bit pissed to find that they are bootleg as the impression given to me was they are official. I wouldn't get rid of them though, I was happy with them when I received them , I am still happy with the cards now apart from the fact I paid 4 times the amount I should have done.
Travis did me some solid favours until this all kicked off, so I am torn by this, how much has he actually made from this? Potentially thousands of dollars and if this hadn't been found out, how many more sets would he have sold as official?
If if he was showing any remorse for his actions, why should we send the set back to get a refund? Now he has been rumbled just issue refunds to all the victims who were mis-sold the set, they keep what they thought was something different to what they actually got, and given time everyone will be happy....eventually, possibly, maybe, if he's lucky
I don't want to appear negative towards Travis but I'm also finding it hard to come up with any positives to help his defence....

Thanks for your help with this as well. It seemed like everyone had a little something to bring to this investigation. It's a shame it all went down, but I'm glad it's over and it's out in the open. Let the healing process begin.

Like many people here, I have a Hundreds set from Travis ($24, early on) and am not so much worried about the cost of the thing as how it was represented to people. Regardless of how many were produced, which seems of great concern here, it would have been nice to know where they were coming from. Like having Alvin as a spokesperson for some other promos...was there no similar contact we could have known about at Hundreds? And it is this part that seems very out of character from what I knew of Travis. Granted, I was only really involved in a handful of trades and sales with him here on the UG but went based on his feedback thread....which was pretty much flawless back when I started here. Hell, I pre-ordered some series from him at very reasonable prices. He legitimately did some good things here, giving out stuff from conventions and Topps. I don't know if he ever charged anyone more than shipping for the promos, so I can't speak to that. My bigger question here is how does the feedback system fail so badly such that we now have people showing up now in droves to throw in negative comments (not just about the hundreds, based on the previous replies to this thread). And if there is a bigger story here, as eluded to by several, is there concern that the other feedback threads here should be in question? Was he just "too big to fail" on the UG and no one wanted to leave these negatives before now? The UG has always been my safety net, the feedback system here gives me confidence when I haven't talked with someone prior to doing a deal. I present myself to people both on and off the UG by telling them to look me up here. I've never done someone wrong on purpose, and when someone is unhappy I always try to make it right. Sorry...some of that was off topic, but I feel it might need to be part of a greater discussion somewhere in another thread if there really is more to this story. ...and Travis still has 100% glowing reviews, no negatives. Leave feedback people.

I'm going to slap a warning on the feedback thread tomorrow.

Yes, I removed your post because it was deemed inflammatory. Enough with the back and forth guys. Everyone doesn't have to be friends, but at least try to co-exist. I will remove the other posts also, but enough is enough. Dammit Steve, I was fixing to post a good cat joke!

This topic has run it's course. The truth has been discovered about the Hundreds bootleg cards. There are no more facts to report so this thread will be locked and stickied so new people can know that the cards aren't authentic.
