I know the artists are extremely busy but still deserving of a thread if there is just the slightest chance of them popping in. Strephon started a t-shirt company a while back. Here's the link. I still need to buy something from it. www.novemberfire.comAlso his website. www.strephon.com

I've actually contacted every single artist i have an email for and only 2 or 3 actually showed up. Should i send them a second notice?
Taylor has a lot for the fans because he was willing to make GFK for fans and that is a definate sign of love for the peeps who support his artwork. I WANT MORE Taylor GPK artwork!! Taylor defies genre and i have never in my life seen art as clever as his...
I WANT MORE TAYLORE GPK'S@!!!!! :sniglet: :sniglet:

I'm not for sure. The merge is a big deal. If they have some spare time and interested or curious I'm sure they're bound to find their way over here.

I don't know Sniglet. It sure would be cool if he did though. I'm going to transfer some stuff from GPKC to over here when it comes to some of the artists threads.

Thanks,
I haven't had as much time to work on anything for myself for a while. Do you do your own stuff as well?

Luis When you don't have the liberty to paint what you want and have to do for someone else it's hard to find the time and inspirtation to do personal. That's why I am started to get some comic book stuff going which allows me to work on my characters and have a product to sell. My site is old, but check it out. I am really strictly working on comic books now though. www.ldiaz.com

That's some cool s**t, I am a big Dan Brereton fan, so I dig gothic watercolor stuff. Your vision is much darker than dan, I like that.
I originally wanted to work in Comics, but at the time the field was just overloaded with talent (about a year post Dark Knight Returns). I sucked at the time, so I got discouraged. I ended up getting freelance work on trading cards and record covers, real cheese ball junk.
I have a concept for a comic, I have had it and worked on the outline for a couple of years. One day I will get serious with it...... Yeah right!
Anyway you have gotten to do some of the stuff I used to dream about doing, and you do it well.

Thanks man. I'm still working out some issues with my productivity because I get really lazy and procrastination becomes my best friend.
I have to lose that acquaintance.
The market is always over flooded with talent, but I think if you have some good ideas and the drive and the time you can make it. I think more than 50% of the stuff is garbage even if it looks pretty.

I have the same problem with procrastination, but I have a couple constant clients that keep me on my toes (and keep my bills paid). I think I work best with a deadline hanging over my head.
Where do you reside?

Miami, FL
It is also very distracting down here. I live 10 feet from a busy road and noisy neighbors, but in reality when I get going I really don't hear anything. I always try to stay in a rythym.
Deadlines do help a lot. And I always think money is not an issue, but when you get paid good you work a lot better.
It takes me forver when it is something I'm getting paid little. Sucks that it is this way.
My goal is to get something going in the comics and get enough of a fan base that later on I can rely on my name to sell paintings. I just wish I can paint all day whatever I want, but I tried the gallery thing and unless your Marilyn Manson or a very open person you won't put up my paintings next to your fruit basket.
Art is bad down here and people seem to choose their art according to whether it matches their sofa, but I'm not one to say because my art is fantasy or horror or whatever it is right now and I'm happy the way things are going.
Ups and downs.
Anyways it looks like you probably been around the gallery circuit. Have you been successful? I think most of the people that have bought my work have been people that know me or just prints or giclees.
How's the scene where you live?

Strephon Florida is fun to visit, but that humidity gets me every time. I have never visited Miami, as a kid I was a Dolphins fan. I have jumped through a lot of gallery hoops. And have been in some killer shows, it is a very hard road to take. I still have some stuff up in Los Angeles, but I am no longer perusing shows. I will probably start doing that again in a few years, my style is morphing and I will probably be producing more palatable art later on. For now i am in the same boat as you, I am very popular around Halloween, the rest of the year it’s hide away the dark art time. I got a full 6 page article in Savage magazine, it’s a popular tattoo mag distributed worldwide. I got a 2 e-mails from that article, it was amazing. I had friends calling me up saying “Dude you are going to break with this” 2 e-mails, and one was a guy who wanted to exchange links! I had to take a step back and really look over what I was doing at that point. I am not sure what is the best thing to do to persue a fine art living. If you look at most artists that are working today, that make a living creating their own art you will see either a very commercial streak, or a movement that carried them along. I have met or have showed with a lot of the artists from Juxtapose, and the Lowbrow art movement from out of Los Angeles. And I found it to be a club of sorts, if you pay attention to Juxtapose you are going to see the same core artists being rotated and featured every couple of years, that's the club. I really believe it’s a matter of continually putting yourself out there and waiting to stumble into something. So my best game plan is to continue working and looking for outlets to show my work. The rest is up to our lord god Satan! (that's a joke).

Yep seems like the same thing I get. I think my weakness is that I have lots of different genres in my art and people are afraid to categorize it with other artist. Fantasy artists say I have too much comic book influence and comic books not enough super hero or big boobed girls. Juxtapoz never wrote me back. I have seen Savage mag. I have a few for tattoo references. Yeah it's tough. Hopefully something hits somewhere along the lines for both of us.
