Hi all
Any idea what the second set will be and when it will be released? As a somewhat frustrated UK collector I’m visiting New York at the start of July 2019 and want to pick them up in person! 🤗

I don't believe work has started on that set yet. If they follow the usual rotation it will be Sept/Oct for 2019S2

Hopefully they will abandon the themed sets and go back to the original format as I read on a GPK facebook page that we hate the 90s is the last set created under the previous managment of Topps so hopefully whowever is in charge at Topps now will decide to go back to the original format

Yeah I hope so. I find the current chase - spit, fools hood etc boring and I dislike how nothing is on the back of the cards unlike the original series and I also miss the checklist cards last seen on the 30th anniversary set?

wish they would go back to solid borders .......... and don't forget the die cut . I don't like the parallels, but if they are going to keep them, then I prefer the spotted borders to solid borders. The solid borders in green, black and gold that they used to make were ugly as sin.

I wish they would copy Pound's style and forget their lesser styles and shortcuts.

I wish they would copy Pound's style and forget their lesser styles and shortcuts. So true. If they offered Pound enough money I’m sure he would come back. Cash talks. We know Topps is cheap and Pound must make more money doing what he does without working for Topps. Think how happy all of us collectors would be! It would be the smartest thing they did since 1985...

They have their own styles and that's what makes them artists in their own right (like Tom Bunk, whose kids didn't look like Pound's). If the artists were just copying Pound, then why even have them on staff? I like the new artists. My only problem is that they aren't drawing Cabbage Patch Kids.

Good point makes sense plus yeah the new artists are pretty good maybe the time restraints hinder the creativity.

I probably should have replied to RusVan, because I agree with your point - bringing back John Pound would be great! I like the art in the new set. But you can't tell me they look like CPKs. They just don't. Someone else made the point that if they called the new set something else (NOT "Garbage Pail Kids"), they might have had something. And he was right - it is a good horror parody set. But it is not Garbage Pail Kids.

Ever wonder why we haven’t seen a new GPK artist copy Bunk’s GPK style?

No I haven't. But I haven't really seen the new artists copying Pound's style either. They don’t copy Pound’s style because they can’t, they don’t copy Bunk’s style because they won’t. That's interesting. I really like Bunk's work. If Pound is #1, Bunk is #1b to me.

Bunk style is being copied plentiful in GPK sketches I like it and the blotched color borders saves Topps like 50% on ink cost
