I want to open this thread not to attack any particular artist but after seeing so many rejected concepts, I would like to know if you were Topps Editor which BNS3 cards should have made the cut according to you, without giving any reasons if you like just imagined that you have this kind of power... To start, to me this one shouldn't

The concept Dave did had the muscle instead of bones and no eyes. Not sure why it was changed but maybe it had to be? You can check out daves thread and see the concept. Slamjim
I've seen in the past where mark did a concept but another artist (like bunk) painted it and changed the whole idea altogether.

I haven't seen the whole sets just what I've seen posted and they could have done without the Adam bomb cards. I'm really getting sick of all the renditions of them. I also don't like the cards where are 2 gpk interacting. They just keep rehashing series 1 characters to death.
I've been reading the threads about the non gpk cards like the peanut and alarm clock etc and I think those are pretty cool.

I also like the card but my doubt, the reason I created this thread was to find out if I am the only one who dont understand how some cards made it to the end of the road and some great concept did not made the cut! Or how great concepts were "unGPKcated", somehow they lost the gpk touch, feeling whatever you wanna call it in the "edition process" and at the end they did not contribute at all to the GPK culture.

That one is mine. As you can see the original concept is basically what Wayne was talking about: Go to my artist page and you can see all the approved, changed and rejected concepts I did for BNS3. There are like 50 or so.

There are like 50 or so. Did you also paint the final? Was this concept initially rejected because it was too gory? I was wondering if they are looking for some kind of consistency, since early on the characters had stuffing being based on CPK, then guts, and now simplified skeletons.

I like the idea of the old characters in a new environment and even combined with other characters, best idea in a while IMHO

This one even does not have a concept is just a good example of copy/"change a little"/paste...I guess Saul still has the gum on his shoe but is covered with the card's name... Although this one doesn't do much for me, the concept makes sense. Tiny Tim has a penchant for getting stuck to sticky things, be it gum or in a web, and facing a certain doom! My question is, how did he escape his gum predicament?!?

To start, to me this one shouldn't I really like this concept. It's very original, cool and fun. The art is what's hurting this one. It's not tight enough. The tape and hand look too washed out and watercolorish. The face on the tape is way too stretched out and just doesn't look good. The face on the tape roll looks fine though. The concept looks a lot better on Dave's pencil concpet than the final art. I saw one last night where I was thinking WTF happened and why does this exist. I'll post it in a few.

DiDi is a Black Widow and the spider in this is a Tarantula or some bigger fatter spider. It looks like s**t overall. DiDi T is better than this.

Didi T gained some weight in all these years LOL i think they could do better with tiny TiMmah like he was stuck in the web or something This was just a simple copy and paste and put the namebar over the sticky gum foot..
But i still like the two interacting! Just a great idea that could have been much better with a little more work! Still not bad i have seen much more worse in BNS1 and BNS2

This has to be the worst thing I've seen since Egg Sheldon. The concept for this isn't terrible but the artwork is horrible. Who's going to stand up for this artwork?

This piece has some serious issues I think if it was done by a better final artist it could've been saved but it was done by Juwanna Im? I still can't remember that artists name I haven't seen any of their work that was worth remembering it ffor.

I WILL.........Not it's too washed out it doesn't pop I like the concept but the execution is lacking in the final some darker vibrant colors and it would be pretty cool.

Maybe it's just me but the artwork just looks strange. It differs then bns1 or 2 . Based on the ones I've seen they don't look detailed or something. The artworks just off

To me this one could have a blue border and then the Sgorbions banner instead of GPK and easily could belong to the awful & almost impossible to find Sgorbions 3rd series...

Almost looks like it is watercolors. It could also have been made a little larger to avoid all the negative space. I do like the concept, although I think making this a GPK version of Mr. Peanut would work better. The monocle, top hat, cane but Mr. Peanut cracked open.

I bet fans here could make some cool mash-ups if they are just making photoshopped collages for them.

It seems like most of the cards that have the offending art (or crummy in my opinion) are all part of the combined original artwork. Is that the case? I'm stoked for the release, but I gotta admit these aren't looking hot at all.

Who is it that's doing the art for these cards where it only looks like it was done in pencil? They look unfinished. I'm thinking of the one's like Hotdog Harris. That was a crummy card!

This one makes a good example what I am trying to point out with this tread: look at it Is a lame GPK, without the name nobody could guess that is referring to the monster of Loch Ness, does it have any feature of a monster? why have to be smiling? no ears? not even a lousy texture? plain water as background?... anyway let's suppose it got screwed at the end of the process, just to blame whoever was the final artist! but how good must have been the concept to made the cut and these 2 DID NOT: or this one:

Some of these could have been so much better... I think the ideas /concepts on on the right track, but some of the final paintings look, well, like high schoolers.
But to the defense of many artists' concepts, for some reason many of their superior concepts were not used. It may be time for Collin Walton to step down... Or step it up.
