59th Philly Non-Sports Card Show!!The Next BIG GPK Event is in a couple of weeks, Sept 21 & 22nd.
There is still time to plan and go. I just bought my flight and hotel today. phillynon-sportscardshow.com/general-show-information/Brent Engstrom is one of the featured artists! It is also confirmed that Joe Simko will be there with Wax Eye. Along with reps from Topps! There is going to be a special NSU Card Talk/GPK Session!!!nsucardtalk0913.eventbrite.com/Looks like there is only 1 ticket left to the session. Here is the description:NSU Card Talk Members and Guests~ Come to the NSU Card Talk Member Gathering at the September 2013 Philly Non-Sports Card Show. The member gathering will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn (1787-B Airport Rd, Allentown, PA 18109), our host Hotel. During this show's NSU Card Talk member gathering, the panel will spotlight Garbage Pail Kids including new product news. Topps will touch on Garbage Pail Kids Chrome and show previews from upcoming sets. In the works is a top-secret video preview with some limited giveaways. Also on-hand to talk about their involvement in the various projects will be GPK artists Brent Engstrom and Joe Simko.Light refreshments will be served including coffee, donuts, and bagels. As usual, we'll discuss what's new with NSU at the start and offer up a few prizes at the close of the meeting. All registered Card Talk members (registered as of August 1, 2013) will be eligible to win any prizes we have. To keep things fair, once we give away a prize to one family member, husband/wife, etc. that will take that group out of the running for any other prizes. The gathering will start at 8:15 on Sunday, September 22 and will last approximately one hour. We invite all Card Talk members (and their guests) attending the show to come to the gathering. Space will be limited and there is no cost to sign up. Please only sign-up if you can make it, though, as we hate to turn anyone away and then have empty seats. When signing up, be sure to supply your "real" name and forum ID for each person you are RSVP'ing for (guests are welcome too - please be sure to supply guests full name for the name badges). The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, September 11, or while space permits. See you there!

Going there as well. They're doing a panel about the future of gpk's. I think there's 2 spots left. Should be a lot of fun. I'll post pics after the show.

Yea, someone record the GPK segment please. Or at least take good notes because I would like to know what direction they are going for future releases. Will it be much of the same, are they going to tone it down with all the chase cards, or are there going to be a shite ton more in future releases? Wish I could make it in person but unfortunately I can't.

So nice to see how many GPKUG folk' will be there. I will also be attending.
I arrive LATE Friday (basically Saturday AM) and will be there until Sunday afternoon.
I see that "abandonedandy" didn't get tix for the panel? If that's true, hit me up at nicodemus@geepeekay.com and I'll see if I can't help you out. That goes for ANYONE btw. I am in fairly-constant communication with Harris Toser and he just informed me that they have developed a waitlist for the panel. If you didn't get a ticket then it would certainly behoove you to get your name on that list!!
Can't wait to meet & greet everyone in a week!!

Muppet news flash 1. No promo cards at the show. "They're on the boat over from china". People had to put their name on a mailing list for them. Sorry guys but we missed out too They did give out a set of 2 wacky packages postcards, one for halloween and the other advertising the topps artist on demand program. 2. I did see the minkins boxes (feeds) and a sample of the minikins pack (same as before, i'll see if there's odds written on the back tomorrow) 3. Found 2 uk series 2 packs for 2$ each. 4. They had some custom comic cover called so buttons #6. Jay lynch did it. (came with custom gpk card that mirrored the cover) 5. Got some great deals on topps ugly stickers and other cool vintage cards from the 40's,50's and 60's. 6. Simko and Engstrom were there signing along with about 10 other artists from other comic book/card series. 7. Engstrom did a special non-sport update plate card which sold for 15$ and is limited to 100. I had one signed. There's still some available and i could try to pick some up for people if they're interested but you'll have to let me know tonight. 8. Buff monster was there (got a card signed) and he hinted at a 2nd series but it was still a work in progress. also got to see the new pewter melty misfits figure. I'ts pretty heavy for a minifigure. 9. Topps was selling the gpk calendars and were showcasing some of the new bns3 cards. They also had mars attack promo cards. Overall a great show in a really cool place (lots of other vendors in this collectible indoor market where you can buy toys/magazines/etc and the 2nd floor is full of mostly wresting stuff. There's even a museum there and a racetrack for the kids. Def worth going even if not for this show. Also for you wrestling fans, jake the snake roberts will be there next week signing and performing. The artists were all really down to earth and easy to talk to. Can't wait to sit in on the panel tomorrow to see what topps is up to.

The Topps rep at the table told me the GPK cards were NOT BNS3, that they were cards that came with the calendar. That is what I was told when I asked if they were BNS3 cards. I didn't actually purchase a calendar, so I can't confirm or deny the accuracy of that statement. Oh, and Engstrom's beard is very impressive live

I didnt get a good look at them, but know they were showing the calendar cards in a binder page. I guess they took them out and put them on the table then. Either way, those were the only cards shown at the show. Nice to hear that Zapata floated by later on. I also saw geepeekay and talked to him briefly. No gold minikins news yet dxtc, gotta wait till after today. Also for those looking for pictures of some of the new stuff at the show: www.facebook.com/GEEPEEKAYdotcomShows the gravity feed for the minikins and some of simkos final art pieces

Here is what I left the show with... On the left, a WP OS3 sketch by Joe Simko that I won at the NSU Card Talk event. I surely wasn't the biggest winner from GPK UG (wink, wink gpkcollector). I also completely embarrassed myself by incorrectly identifying the 39b character as Mean Gene instead of Green Gene. Shameful! Cost me a few packs of Chrome, which surely held a superfractor. On the right is a PSC of Peter Puker I commissioned from Brent Engstrom. I also commissioned a Smashing Stan on an Incredible Hulk blank variant comic book, but I decided to send it home with Engstrom to get colors. I forgot to take a pic before giving it back to him, but gpkcollector snapped one and is welcome to post it for everybody to see. Besides gpkcollector, I also had the pleasure of meeting Adam Bomb and Nicodemus after the card talk event. Met GPK artist Fred Wheaton towards the close of the show today. Apparently Neil Camera was also floating around the show (I saw he signed up to get the GPK promos in the mail). I've also got 2 PSCs coming from Joe Simko - Adam Bomb and Spider Manny. I'll post those and the completed Engstrom cover when I receive them in the mail. Picked up a bunch of other stuff also, but nothing else GPK related.

Oh and keirmon took home the minkins gravity feed!! Nice gift to his son. Damnit. I really took it in the shorts in terms of bringing anything home That being said it wasn't really about getting GPK goodies for me as much as it was meeting people. I had some wonderful conversations with Jeff Zapata, Fred Wheaton, Brent, Joe, the Topps guys, and of course those who attended from the UG. Plus I got to take part in a kickass special GPK-related project that is in the works (more info to come in the next couple months) So in the end the trip was certainly worth it. There are some good people pushing the hobby right now, and I'm excited to see the GPK brand continue on. My write-up with pics is here: www.geepeekay.com/gpknews.html#news011I also posted some add'l BNS3 sneak peeks on the ol' FB: www.facebook.com/GEEPEEKAYdotcom
