I wanted to start a thread about which GPK(s) are considered underrated or often forgotten about although they should be classics and are great pieces of GPK art.....a couple that I can think of off the top of my head are Woody Allen/Holly Wood/Oak Kay and Hip Kip/Walt Witless......it's a shame these characters are not often represented in any GPK merchandise or even mentioned anywhere......or even thought of!! What GPK do you guys feel are often underrated and forgotten about?

A couple others I can think of are: 176 Bill Ding/Condo Minnie 374 Swiss Kris/Cheesy Chandra Those are just a couple that come to mind. I also think Bea Sting from OS6 is an awesome card and looks like it belongs in OS1 because of the simplicity of it. I really like it also. *Thanks to Barren Aaron for the images I stole to post here

@ Jimbo - I've pondered whether or not to get Swiss Kris graded - I love the simple vivid purple background and obvious poundesqe details......I think you also hit the nail on the head with Bea sting too - very OS1 looking - simple background and animated facial expression.

@ Cory: Ha ha - I presume that you are referring to "Cheese LOUISE"........I don't mind rehashing on CERTAIN general things, ex: puking......but something specific like this (kid made of cheese and being sliced) is lame to rehash! At least the artwork is decent.

Nice! I remember being 8 years old and having that card - both of them. It wasn't a very popular card and a classmate gave me his doubles of Hairy Mary and Furry Fran - I still remember that curling iron and the light purple color lol.

Definitely WOODY ALAN from series 4. That card might even get in my top 10. Agree with SLOSHED JOSH too AndrewGPK, always loved that card. The art-work, colours, concept etc. TIFFANY LAMP, MOUTH PHIL & PUZZLED PAUL from series 4 too. Always loved SPRAYED WADE from series 5 (side note: The only GPK card to feature John Pound's sig??). NAT NERD is another awesome card. Quite like WILLIE WIPE-OUT and SURREAL NEAL from that series too. From series 6: OVER FLO, UPLIFTIN' CLIFTON, UNCOOL CARL are all great cards but my favourite of the bunch is HECTOR COLLECTOR/G.P. KAY. I think that card is genius. Always loved ON THE MARK from series 7 tho is he really "underrated/forgotten" given that he features on the series 7 pack... hmmm... probably not. Still. CUT UP CARMEN and BANNANA ANNA are also favourites. DUSTIN TO DUST from series 8 is brilliant. imo. Another possible 'all-time top 10' card for me. I think the art-work is stunning. Also the names are really clever for both A [ASHLEY TO ASHES] and B (something that is quite rare i find). The "pack front" card HEARTLESS HAL from series 8 ought to get more press. I've always thought it was a great card. I quite like MARCEL PARCEL from this series too. Funny concept and art, always liked it. GLOWING AMBER is a fairly strange concept but i've always loved the way it looks. Really nice art.

Wow! Andrew and pgowdy - great insightful posts! I totally agree with distorted Dot, over Flo and Clark can't (love that name). I tend to go with the pound style and simple color background in my picks because MOST of the popular GPK have the same style. Here's some others that I feel are underrated and forgotten about and 3 of them are from OS1! * *Art apart/busted Bob *nervous Rex/nerdy Norm......some do recognize this GPK but not nearly enough - a true classic and def deserves more respect - any sketches of this GPK? *oozy Suzie/meltin' Melissa *Bonnie bunny/pourin' Lauren (do u like the pic?) ;D *horsey Henry/galloping Glen *Dana druff/flaky Fay *Rock E. Horror/Marty Gras *Ben bolt/fried Franklin (Lightning is usually popular in GPK *Joan clone/warty Ward *Mickey mouths/oral Laurel *Manny heads/Max stacks *peeled Paul/skin Les *3-Dee/blurry Blair

Hey Grant, did you try pasting the picture codes next to each other (i refer to IMG codes that you get when you load to pictures to a host site like photobucket or flickr), That might work. However, i loaded mine to a logo creator on my mac. It allows you to put pictures side by side and then save them as one image which is what mine are. If you try to grab one of mine you'll see it moves as one image. You can probably do that in photoshop.

And just as a test here i've uploaded these 2 images to my photobucket account and copied the IMG codes and pasted them side by side and the images appear side by side. Very simple.

Good calls on about all of these. I really love Mouth Phil and Nervous Rex. Marcel Parcel is so under-rated too.
I'm not as big on Art Apart. I don't know what it is, but it might be one of my bottom 3 for OS1. I just don't like the colors and its kind of bland. Its about as basic of a GPK concept as you can get but I think Pound could have done more with it. Also, I think one of the problems is that it comes in the first 10 cards in OS1 which are all so strong that to me it pales in comparison.

It's interesting how every ones opinion can have stark differences but don't get me wrong - I certainly respect your opinion! I actually love the vivid bright colors in that card - the purple turning to pink on the door, the teal on the wall and the green turning to yellow on the floor - no other OS1 gpk has that much variation in colors.....I think. The concept is basic no doubt but it is the first character ever with this concept so Art and Bob get a pass. The mouth is cool too, but the colors is what does it for me on this card. A lot of times the background color alone on Pound cards can make or break a card....for example - if Itchy Richie had an attractive color in the background instead of that pale yellow then that card would not be so hated by most fans. Well that's what I think anyway. ;D

I don't mind the concept being basic, I'm just saying I thought more could have been done with it.
But it is good that we have these differences in taste. That is alot of what art is all about. Not everything is going to speak to everyone in the same way. And I liked hearing your explanation as to why you like the card. I have been given new appreciation for some cards on this board that I had previously overlooked or not thought much about because of how strongly people here feel about them. Swiss Kris on this thread is a good example. It just makes you take another look at the card sometimes.

I agree with Andrew on Art Apart. In my opinion it is the worst card in OS1. There is nothing wrong with the concept, I think it is mostly the colors that I do not like. That being said, it is still a great GPK. It just happens to be in OS1 with so many other awesome cards. I would still kill to own the final art for it though

But I hear where you're coming from and how someone would not find that style appealing. I think the 5 vivid background colors fading into each other in the Art apart card makes the card more appealing over all - again in my example of Itchy Richie or even teevee Stevie - if those 2 cards had a more appealing color they would be more popular - ironically I have always felt that less is better when it comes to GPK - usually a single background fading color is perfect and multiple colors and/or excessive props take away from the character him/herself. Andrew - the point that you make about taking another look at a card that someone feels different about is excellent and spot on - Well said and I couldn't agree more!! Mel meal/Ross roast is a perfect example of this for me - I never cared for it until another member on here mentioned it and that made me take a closer look.....thus having a new appreciation for it. This doesn't always happen but sometimes it does. Either way it's all in good fun to discuss. ;D

Interesting perspective coming from a UK collector - thanks for sharing! I actually like the UK versions a lot because of the smaller size - they look better in certain graded slabs but that's just my personal preference - like this - A graded UK card VS. a graded US card: It is a shame that some of the lesser known cards/characters or "gems" were never produced for UK versions - a custom sketch card of a never produced UK card/character with the same size as a UK card would be really cool!
